As per the comment, you can adjust the Pathfinder precision in Pathfinder Options dialog, accessible from the Pathfinder’s panel flyout menu. The higher the value, the less accurate the result is going to be. Lesser values gives more precision, but it can lead to many 'residuals'. The default value is 0.028 pt, but you might try something like 0.01 pt and see if it works better.

Someone posted this bug early last year but it persists. We used to have the ability to adjust the size or shape of a path, say a circle, which has text on that path, without resetting the positioning of the text. This worked perfectly for years, and now it has been broken for some time and costs users a lot of time and frustration.

Example: You have text on a circle path. The text is just the way you'd like it, but that path needs to be just a bit smaller or larger. So you select just the path, and reduce or enlarge its size slightly. Welp ... there goes the positioning of your text. And as an added aggravation, UNDO doesn't reverse it.

Please, Adobe, many of your users just want the basic, useful things to work instead of new bloated features we would rarely use.
