    Hi Everyone,

We have fixed this bug in our latest release – v 24.2.1 which is available worldwide now. Thanks for your patience on this.

Please note that after upgrading you might still see that Align To sets itself to Align to Key Object. If you see this, please manually set the Align To to the required setting, and this reported bug will not happen again. You’ll need to this one time only.

The reason Align To might get set to Key Object after update is because Ai remembers your last Align To on subsequent launches as well. So, if your last Align To was Key Object before quitting/upgrading, after first multi-selection, it will set itself to Key Object. After you manually change it one-time, it will work fine.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Gary, this will work as long as you make sure it's set to "align to selection" and not key object or artboard.

Thanks Emily Rose for the tip on option+dragging (Alt+dragging) an edited swatch onto the old swatch to change the old swatch. Still not sure why you can't edit the gradient swatch just like editing any other color in your swatches.

Agreed on all counts. Absolutely unacceptable for Adobe not to address this issue sooner. It took me 3 attempts at support chats to get someone to actually give me this suggestion. Totally unacceptable and I've lost many hours of work because of this. Shame on you Adobe.

For those that are still having an issue, I was on another support chat with Adobe and they recommended uninstalling and reinstalling the application. Once I did that, it works as expected now. Hope this will help others.

i was on a far too long screen share with one support person, showing them what was happening. While they said the problem has been sent to developers I haven't seen any fix yet. I too have had many hours of work vanish because of this issue. For me it's only appeared with the current version 24.0.2, not any previous ones. Very frustrating that after the support call, i got an email saying this case is closed. WTF! Adobe, you need to fix this issue.
