If I link a CMYK Illustrator PDF with transparency into a CMYK Illustrator document, the transparency doesn't show correctly. I can actually open a CMYK Illustrator PDF, link the same exact PDF into this opened file, and the artwork will look different even though they're the same exact file. See attached screenshot. This has been an annoying bug that's been around forever.

In a CMYK document, if I link a PDF with transparent elements, it doesn't show the transparency of the transparent elements. If I embed the file, the transparent element works and shows. Linking a file with transparent elements in an RGB document seems to work fine.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.2.0 which is available worldwide now.

Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

My experience was even more interesting. I saw the May 12th email alert with Rama's workaround this morning, but before I did any of it, I launched Illustrator to work on something real quick and the issue was already fixed. Moreover, I had a new splash screen letting me know what was new in the Illustrator update, even though the CC app says the last update was 15 days ago, and I'd been using Illustrator umpteen times since without seeing this "What's New" splash screen. Weird!

Not "Completed" as of May 4, 2020, with everything Adobe updated. I still have huge preset icons with:

    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)
    Mohave 10.14.6
    Illustrator 24.1.2
    Creative Cloud 5.1.0.407
    CCX Process 3.6.2.5
