Customizable Background and Wireframe Color for View > Outline mode
It would be really helpful for those of us working in low-light environments to have an inverted / low-contrast option for the 'Outline' view.
As it is, working on an all-white screen is very fatiguing. Having a simple switch to change the display from light to dark would be a welcomed QoL improvement.
I've attached two images showing how I see this implemented.
When "invert" is active I'd prefer the background not be pure-black but a dark shade of grey (shown as #1E1E1E here).
Another option could be to make the alternate mode adaptive, where the color scheme matches the users Preferences > User Interface > Brightness settings.

I would love to have a dark mode option for working in outline view. I spend a lot of time here and the almost all-white screen can get to be a bit much.

Add an option to set the color of both the artboard and wireframe artwork in Outline Mode. Artboard color can be set in preview mode with clever use of Simulate Colored Paper or a transparency grid, and you can get a colored background in outline mode by toggling individual layer draw mode, but wireframe artwork will always display in black.

The option to make the outline view in Illustrator inverted colors. The white background and dark lines, to dark background and white lines.

I dont understand how this is not a thing yet. Color picker on the color selection panel as well, OMG, wosrt thing is that they even implemented that in After Effects but not on illustrator. I'll let you know if I find a alternative way to change that BG in outline mode.

Totally support this feature.
Honestly it is plain weird Adobe has not implemented this yet. Other vector packages have this as default from Autocad to vectornator... Especially when one switches to dark UI the outline mode ougjt to be inverted as well. -

I was just looking for this feature. Such a small option but would marginally decrease my eye strain. Also should look good because the surrounding UI has been in dark mode for years!
Hope there was a way to bump this more but all I can do is vote and leave a comment. :(

I know this isn't an exciting feature, but I use this for hours a day on a 32" display and end up with regular eye strain + headaches. Any chance to bump this would be much appreciated.
For increased marketing appeal you can call it 'Outline Dark Mode'

If you work on black canvases and switch quickly between canvas and path preview, your eyes are being tortured by the rapid black/white contrast. I would love to see either inverted path previews (white paths on black) or maybe even the option to customize the color/contrast of your path preview to make it more convenient and less painful.
