An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedme again, almost a year later...
Details: windows 10, latest illustrator, file on local drive
Illustrator is creating a .tmp file with a cryptic name but fails to rename that to the original name and does not state an error. Can't this be fixed - I would rather get an alert about save problem, and possibly an OS error code as readable text, than lose my work
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedjust had the same situation....
Details: windows 10, latest illustrator, file is on a NAS box, save format is 'PDF compatible'
Illustrator is creating a .tmp file with a cryptic name but fails to rename that to the original name and does not state an error.I did a few tests on this machine (and restarted Illustrator first, then windows, to be sure) with a few files
Later I tried to edit the original problem file from my laptop - this worked.
Next I got myself a copy of procmon to find out more, but saving did work again.May I assume that the last steps in saving involve a system call to remove the old file and one to rename the temp file to the original name, and the return code of that operation is not checked for errors?

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedthis happens occasionally. Since 2022 version, a related symptom happens more often: the alert appears but the cursor hides, and hitting Enter does not work.
Only way out is trying to drag a rectangle where the OK button is locatedAnonymous supported this idea · -

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 26.1.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Hi Everyone,
We have fixed this bug in our latest release – v 24.2.1 which is available worldwide now. Thanks for your patience on this.
Please note that after upgrading you might still see that Align To sets itself to Align to Key Object. If you see this, please manually set the Align To to the required setting, and this reported bug will not happen again. You’ll need to this one time only.
The reason Align To might get set to Key Object after update is because Ai remembers your last Align To on subsequent launches as well. So, if your last Align To was Key Object before quitting/upgrading, after first multi-selection, it will set itself to Key Object. After you manually change it one-time, it will work fine.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedIt is possible to have a group inside a compound path. In the UI you will see "ungroup" offered but not working - the proper cure is to revert compound, then to ungroup, then to compound again.
In scripting, the compoundpath object simply has no path members (and the object does not provide access to groups)
Please either ensure that compound paths cannot include groups (preferred) or allow access to them from scriptingAnonymous supported this idea · -

Hi again, this time I tried to gather a few more details:
a) the .tmp file with cryptic name is somewhat smaller as the AI file
b) file on a network drive, does not save from two different computers
c) other files in the same folder can be edited and saved, also saving the file to a different location and then copying it works
d) Following the events in procmon, I found the place where the cryptic file was created, but I could not see an attempt to rename it
For the moment I have added an aftersave handler to one of my cep panels which pops up an alert if the file was not saved
