Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!
Dear Illustrator Community,
I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.
While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.
Our Approach
We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.
It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…

An error occurred while saving the comment nate commented@Max - Thanks a lot for this. These are exceptionally useful tools - I purchased a license straight-away. Precisely the functionality I was after.
@Egor - The big distinction here is that AG Offset isn't really a tool in the classic sense - it's a live effect, which means you have to expand it after each interaction to work with the resulting paths. That makes it sluggish for simple uses compared to a focused tool, like the ToolShed/Moi ones.
I do love AG Offset, I use it every day, but I would also like to have a barebones tool that can quickly create a new offset path with no frills, no need for non-destructive editing, no need for complex results with easing and fill/stroke modulation, and no need for reproducibility as a style. Just activate, click, drag, done. This ToolShed one fits the bill, but again, it's another thing I now have to monitor for version compatibility and licensing.
I feel it's better to compare vs. Illustrator's native Edit>Object>Path>Offset Path command...
Or, more pertinently, to the lack of a native interactive offset tool.To get a sense of what the Moi offset tool does you can look at the ToolShed one, there's a gif of it here:
https://rj-graffix.com/images/plugins/toolshed/offsetOpenPathDemo.gifThis is even more featured than what my request is asking for, but the UX is fairly transparent so the extra functionality is non-intrusive.
Thanks all!
Hope this makes sense. An error occurred while saving the comment nate commentedHi @Egor, indeed, and I do use AG Offset, but besides being a separate paid product it's a different beast altogether imo, best suited for more complex effects. A native tool where you can simply click-drag a single offset path would be an incredibly useful addition due to its speed. Moi 3Ds offset tool is a great example of how this could function.

Similar to others here I would also like the ability to assign unique export profiles per-group.
Especially with large numbers of assets; some you need as png, some with different scales, some as svg, etc..nate supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment nate commentedHi Egor, thanks for engaging!
"Being an administrator of official Adobe’s third-party feedback service does not make me a part of the Illustrator team"
I disagree. You may not be getting paid, but you wear an Admin badge on an official channel, as far as optics go your comments absolutely represent the team. Hopefully you can see that – but what matters here is how others see it.
"I do this only in comments, and never assume them as an official response."
Again, you may not consider them as official responses, but clearly you can see this isn't the case for everyone else.
As a user I don't come here for work-arounds or third-party solutions, there are many, many other forums for that, both official and unofficial. This site is specifically for bug reports and feature requests.
While I believe you, and the other users I see posting similarly, mean well and may be genuinely trying to solve problems for users, those types of comments are tacitly counter-productive and off-topic in this context, even without the optics problem.
Imho we should keep the focus here on "How we can improve Illustrator", and save the rest for community.adobe.com, creative cow, reddit etc..
An error occurred while saving the comment nate commentedBump.
Also @Egor, unless you guys at Adobe plan to buy and include Astute Graphics plugins in AI please stop offering them as solutions here. I keep seeing this, and while you may have them not everyone does. Suggesting a paid third-party solution on your own feature request forum comes off as distasteful and diversionary. If another user wants to suggest it, ok, but it's not a solution to your product, it's an externalization of cost at the expense of your users.

An error occurred while saving the comment nate commentedI know this isn't an exciting feature, but I use this for hours a day on a 32" display and end up with regular eye strain + headaches. Any chance to bump this would be much appreciated.
For increased marketing appeal you can call it 'Outline Dark Mode'

Latest Beta Build 29.1.0.79 now allows to add gradient and pattern swatches into color groups. Simple as that. I am personally amazed it just works.
Please try it yourself in the latest Beta and see if it works for you as well. My congratulations, everybody. Vote more!

Hi Everyone,
We have fixed this bug in our latest release – v 24.2.1 which is available worldwide now. Thanks for your patience on this.
Please note that after upgrading you might still see that Align To sets itself to Align to Key Object. If you see this, please manually set the Align To to the required setting, and this reported bug will not happen again. You’ll need to this one time only.
The reason Align To might get set to Key Object after update is because Ai remembers your last Align To on subsequent launches as well. So, if your last Align To was Key Object before quitting/upgrading, after first multi-selection, it will set itself to Key Object. After you manually change it one-time, it will work fine.

An error occurred while saving the comment nate commentedI need access to both RGB and HSB color values/sliders in my workflow. Currently I use the Color palette set to RGB (since it won't stay on HSB) and I use the MagicPicker extension for HSB.
I use them both so frequently that it's a pain to use one and menu-dive to change it, I really need both simultaneously.
My request is that the color palette in AI be multi-mode, e.g. allow me to open all of the color slider sets I want at once (appearing in stack), and just change focus between them if object selection changes or if you edit values in a different mode (cmyk/rgb/grayscale etc).
Thanks!

An error occurred while saving the comment nate commentedPlease add this behavior to Layers and Artboards windows as well.
Having to click every object/layer/artboard to rename is unnecessarily tedious.nate shared this idea · -

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.3.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Hi, nice to see movement here, certainly w/regards to raster images I have some documents that are almost unusable, and have had to split documents into many in order to continue working - so this is very welcome.
Are there plans to address optimization w/regards to complex vector-only documents + functions as well? Notably 'object/expand' and pathfinder operations when working with large selections of paths, complex patterns and brushes, navigation (redraw glitches), and interaction latency when working with these documents. Often in these cases I see a single core loaded (and usually at less than half capacity).
Apologies if this has been discussed before.
Thanks
