Loaded eyedropper just like in InDesign
I wish the eye dropper behaved more like it does in InDesign: If you pick up a type style, you "keep" that style and can apply it to several different text boxes. so if you have a text box with 4 subheads and body copy after each and you want to change all of the subheads to match the first one that you've changed, you could click on the desired style, and then click-drag over each of the subheads carrying the same style to each

It would be most useful to have the eyedropper with the same functions it has in InDesign: sampling attributes from the source and applying them to multiple recipient subjects consecutively. In Illustrator it works backwards, you have to have selected the recipient and then click with the dropper on the source, and in this way it is impossible to quickly repeat the operation because you have to change tools and select the recipient each time.

Agreed!! Why not implement this?

It's a great question.
Exactly. We all use totally different descriptions to express the needs and log bugs even. Terminology differs, and in most times people don’t rely on it, because when we come here — we are usually are quite angry and frustrated something doesn’t exist or just broken :)
That’s why I do what I do: read every comment and post made here and connect the threads, tagging, merging, splitting, renaming, commenting, linking... to make it easier to be discovered, found, noticed.
And surely it all relies on a word of mouth. This place is STILL very new for the community, and some folks just don’t know it exists (even though Ai itself offers ways to find it). Plus, it’s about the trust. We all felt so neglected, for many years, that many still don’t trust the system, because 'Adobe doesn’t listen anyway'. Well, they actually do, and the more we talk and vote, the more they believe it as well. It’s not fast, no, but it finally started to matter, and some small but incredibly useful changes we were able to get were pushed thanks to those who voted and commented. And to fix the broken trust takes A LOT... it gets better! Why this particular one is not that popular though? So many reasons! 1) As I say — people don’t believe it matters to ask, 2) they are too patient, 3) they use InDesign instead, 4) they never tried to use InDesign at all, 5) they never heard of UV at all... you get the idea.
How to find specific things here? Categorization exists as well, but so far the best way is to making a new topic.
I made a small experiment — I tried to create a new request, typing just two words in the caption field: 'indesign eyedropper'.
And this exact request is the second one I get (see the screenshot attached).
Yes, I just know how the search here works, I agree... but it doesn’t really differ from how other search engines work, so there a high chance to discover one needed. -

@Egor Chistyakov, Okay, I get it. But how would someone find this thread and vote on it? I see a filter for "NEW," but this thread wouldn't come up in that search; the issue I am saying is by combining an idea with another one, you are relying too much on the original poster of the great idea to have a great explanation and title for the suggested feature so people would vote on it, I've wondered why this is not in Illustrator for so many years, but now I know why.
This system relies too much on people to think of the idea. Just look, we have 16 people who have thought of the idea, but there are no extra votes. Why is that?
-
Cameron, it’s not about the time passed, it’s about the total vote count and the frequency of the votes.
The request is still solid, but, as you can see, even with yours one merged it makes it only 16 votes so far. Not that a large demand :( Still, every vote counts, and 16 is better than 15 and 1.
UserVoice usually does a good job to show you potential duplicates when you enter the caption, but these still happen. It makes no sense to post these as separate requests, so these get merged if the requests are similar enough — and yours one was a duplicate. It’d help tremendously though if you vote more for other things you find important. -

Maybe this might be the biggest failure of why Adobe is failing so much, why did my suggestion get compiled into a thread that is 9 years old, of cause no one is going to vote this feature as it’s buried behind 9 years of data….. 🤔🤔🤔

I love InDesign, but I find it a waste of time to link all my images and vector graphics, so I usually avoid using it. The issue is I miss everything in InDesign that should be in Illustrator.
Can we have all the features that Indesign eyedropper has had for many years?
Load the eyedropper with a text/paragraph/graphic style and keep that style. Then, drag over the text to change it, and hold all information to do it multiple times.

I agree with Orbit Design, how does this only have 13 votes?? It's so needed, would hugely save time when designing.

How does this only have 14 votes since 2017? This is such a needed option and wouldn't alter any functionality of the current eyedropper tool.

Sarebbe utile se lo strumento contagocce applicato al testo funzionasse come in indesign in modo sequenziale. Dopo il primo pick fosse possibile applicarlo a più testi.
Perchè non uniformate gli shortcuts in tutti i programmi della suite?

Allow the eyedropper tool to pick up text formatting and load it to the eyedropper to paint the formatting over multiple instances without having to pick up the formatting again and again after each application currently.
This exists in InDesign. So this is definitely possible.

the illustrator and indesign dropper work differently, one the opposite of the other.
I think that indesign is more functional, especially for copying text styles and applying them to multiple words ... If possible, adjust the dropper function that works like in indesign. -

Also make it possible to apply styles to text in the same frame - now you can only apply it to text in another frame.
