Make 'Recent fonts' section in Character palette work alongside with selecting current font in font list
Recently AI made focus in font list in Character palette jump to the top of the list, in 'Recent fonts' part, thus making impossible to browse fonts in alphabetical order — you have to scroll font list manually to position.
This is stupid.
In 22.1.0 this request has been realized:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/32044567-option-to-disable-recent-fonts-feature
Now user can set '0' in Preferences to completely eliminate 'Recent' section in font list — and this magically 'fixes' selection of current font in context.
This is stupid.
I personally want to use BOTH 'Recent fonts' AND current font focusing.
I don't care about it won't be selected in Recent: just show me chosen number of recent font options above the line (without selection), make it fixed (or make it go away right after I start scrolling) and select current font in the main list.
Just like CorelDraw does it (see the image attached).
Don't do as Microsoft Word does (it actually does it wrong too).

The latest Beta Build 29.6.91 introduces first changes to the way how recent font section works. Now Ai tries to find the position of the currently chosen font in the main list.
There are several known issues.
- If you deselect a text and select it again — Ai will still jump to the recent section’s font when we open the dropdown
- The recent section is not fixed and gets scrolled while navigating the list, making the access to recent fonts harder that it is now in the General build
Please try to test it and leave comments.

I totally agree with this! Once you select a font, you're back at square one instead of being left on the current font chosen on a list of 2000+ fonts where you left off. This creates more time spent on a project when it's not necessary. Half of the time, when I hover over a font in the scroll-down menu, the menu then quickly disappears. It's very aggravating. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD CHARACTER MENU!

Agreed! PLEASE please fix! This adds hours of extra work, and truly will change the way people use fonts for design. In this industry we do not have time to make it all the way down to 'Z's' or honestly even 'M's' in our font if we have to scroll from the top every single time.

Totally agree. Previous version was a great workflow to explore fonts alphabetically.
It's fine, Adobe, that you offer new features, but please don't assume that you can take away features that work efficiently and have been in use for years.

Please bring back the 'current font' listing feature in the Character menu. This was a great workflow for exploring multiple fonts. New update is very difficult to explore fonts alphabetically.
It's great that Adobe tries to add new features, but please don't take away existing features that people have used for decades.

Also, this means when I search for a font it gives me every single weight in a list. Before it would show the family and I could arrow down to see the weights.

Please give the option to go back to the old setting! I have been really frustrated with this change. I know its small but there was nothing wrong with the old way.

can you please change fonts tool bars old ways? now if I start typing in Futura Bk BT (for example) and what to change or rest of text be Futura Lt BT. when I go to character seating it's back to the top of my fonts list it's not staying in futura section any more. so now I need to go all down again. Please change like use to be. makes extra work!
