Make Knife tool work with smart guides
Knife is a very freehand tool, but you can make straight cuts, if you hold Alt. Cool. But you can't position these cuts precisely! Nor with a smart guides (at least!) or Snap to grid.
Please improve it!
Finally! In the latest Beta 28.8.0.37 the Knife tool now works with Smart Guides.
Remember that holding Opt/Alt makes the Knife cut in straight lines.
Please test it and see if it works for you.

While Knife indeed works with Smart Guides as precise as we expect it to, it still is constrained to the internal point grid, even with every snap option disabled.

This has always puzzled me as well. Why does the tool always seems broken? Making it work like Egor describes would be much better.

Seriously, I don't really understand the practical application of the knife tool if you can't cut precisely along smart guides!! This is a must-have feature! And then, on the opposite side of the spectrum, I don't understand why the knife tool is so finicky when you use it freehand; why doesn't it just cut exactly where you draw your cursor?

And will be brilliant to add this ability to alt-pressed eraser tool.
