Allow to change color & width of border / edges for artboards (all and active)
Sometimes when I am using black colour I cant see properly my artboard size so I have work with the guides instead of using the change artboard colour option so it gets annoying. If there were an artboard frame colour option it would be easier to compare my design w.r.t. the artboard

The team decided to revert the current look of the active artboard border (2 px black) to the way it used to look previously (1 px black) — many found it to be distracting.
This change will affect General, Beta, and Prerelease builds. No update is required, this flag will be toggled automatically, presumably in few hours.
The change is not final, and the team is considering making it better.
Watch this place for updates on the development.

Since newest update, the active canvas has a thick black border. It is too thick when working with 1 mm bleeds or with multiple pages. I didn't find a possibility to change it back to way it has been before.

The August 2025 update just made the selected artboard's border's thicker and darker in color. It's very distracting while working since it stands out way too much. An option to adjust the thickness or revert it back to it's old design would be great. This way people who struggle with thin borders can have this option turned on and those who dont want it, can keep it turned off.

This is bad. It is too thick & really distracting on a white ground.
It needs to be reverted or be able to edited -

Just wanted to also add that the thick black border is extremely distracting and unwelcome - please urgently allow this to be reverted to previous style and/or customisable!

The new thick black frame around the artboard is incredibly distracting and makes it difficult to work. Please make it possible to disable or customize this feature

Please allow us to turn off the thick black line that's been added to the active art board it is way too thick not only is it distracting but it gets in the way when designing elements on or near the edge of the artboard.
If this is a change you really want to implement find a way of highlighting the active artboard not actually on the artboard itself since we need that to have clear space to design on a lot of the latest updates have been messing with the look of the area we're trying to work on and it's bad UI.
There is also no need to highlight which artboard you're working on when you're only using one.

It would be better if the line width could be changed by zooming in and out, and it would be nice if the color could be customized in the artboard layer properties. Also, I personally don't need this feature, so it would be nice if the visualization could be turned on and off.

It's urgent to change this horrible edge that completely blocks creativity. Visually, it's an aberration for creativity software. This isn't accounting software.
It would simply be enough to be able to activate it or not. -

The recent change to a thick black border is not suitable, in my opinion. It makes it difficult to design artwork that has full artboard coverage, when the artwork itself does not include a border.
The ability to choose the colour of the artboard border would great and it surprises me that this was not an earlier feature. For my personal preference, I would have no artboard border, so that it has no visual impact on the artwork within the artboard.

HI, full customization is great, or just a box to show or not in the preferences. Thanks.

Hi, what we need is the border to change to white or another color when the artboard has a black background, or the ability for us to change the color to one that works for our design.

With the newest update thick blue frame around active artboard appeared. It makes work virtually impossible since it's now impossible to see the proper boundries of the graphics/arttboard. AFAIK it's sadly not a bug but a feature (as if new rearrange wasn't bad enough...) and there's no way to turn it off. Is that true? I understand that peope use illustrator for different kind of projects and some may find this helpfull but is there really no way to turn it off/customise it? Because it looks like a (thick blue) bug.

This feature is very important to make Illustrator more modern compared to competitors who currently have an better artboard selection.

I'm so surprised this isn't an option yet. For me, even swapping the active artboard color with the inactive one would be so much better. The black just blends in and I have no idea where the edge of the artboard is without putting guides over the edge of the artboard.

Every time (when I see all the artboards at once, zoom out) I click on one of the artboards in the artboard panel it's hard to tell which artboard is it. Would be great if there was a clear highlight on the actual artboard that was chosen in the artboard panel.
Don't want to double click artboard because then the view zooms to that artboard only.
Thanks,
