Display copies of links' duplicates as instances, like in InDesign
It would be nice if Illustrator's link panel was more link InDesign's in that it collapsed instances of the same linked file into an accordion. The user can then update multiple instances of a file to the same new link or link them individually to separate new links.

An obvious feature that should already exist.

This would be an immense timesaver for my teams.

I am enjoying the new auto-linking functionality in illustrator, but seriously, why stop there? InDesign has perfected the link system. Let's make that universal! The accordion/instance function could be useful in both illustrator and photoshop, but i'll take the photoshop discussion to that forum. Let's be the united ecosystem we want to see in this world.

i wish the links panel allowed options with a right-click. To relink an asset, i still have to go up into the menu to do it. Why do none of the panels support right-click updates?

This would be awesome.
Sometimes I have to relink hundreds of .pdf links and I use a script for that. But if I need to relink my link to page 2 of the same .pdf, I cried a lot, because need to change every single link one by one. -

Yes, like how InDe's links palette works. Please and thanks!!

Very similar to my own suggestion linked here:

The Illustrator links panel should have a "relink all instances" option just like InDesign, to relink an image JUST ONCE for multiple instances of the same link in one document.

Improved links panel. List all instances of a linked image under one 'primary' link, append the filename with " (xx instances) ". Use a chevron that points right to indicate that there are multiple instances under the "primary" one shown in the list. Clicking the chevron makes the chevron point down, and displays the list of all instances.
Clicking to select the "main" instance and clicking the re-link button should allow the user to replace all instances of the same image. Allow the user to expand the list downward as described above and select a single, or multiple instances to re-link. In this case, provide a pop-up dialog asking whether to relink all selected instances or re-link one at a time, incase the user wants to link different images.
If user relinks with different images, move those new links into their own instance grouping with a "primary" heading of its own.
Image mockup provided for clarity.

While Adobe team fixes this, I can offer you to use a script that does it:

Please bring back this feature!! Or I'll have to downgrade Ai again. Its a nightmare to have to re-link images individually and although I've been told you can select all and replace in order, this is a real pain too.

Allow multiple copies of the same linked image in the Links panel to collapse into groups, like collapsing a group of layers. Controls to expand/collapse all would be a bonus.

also, when links go missing it should retain the path where the original link was. baffling that illustrator's link panel is so much worse than indesign's.

and why it doesnt do this already is beyond me.. Im working with files where we have hundreds of links in them but only 12 or so individual files. this would be awesome to implement.
