User defined scales for Dimension tool
Repost from general discussions:
I'm delighted to see the addition of the dimensioning tool, but I'm not wild about the fixed choice of scaling ratios. The option to set one's own scales would be great.
Failing that, a 1:12 scale seems like a glaring omission for those of us still using inches and feet.
Am I missing something?

It is possible now to set up a custom scale in Ai Beta 28.4.0.2.
In Dimension Tool Options dialog open the Scale dropdown and choose custom to get the Custom Scale dialog.
It works for decimal scales only, like 1:12 or 1:15, but not for Imperial scales like 1/16"
Please try it and comment back.

This could be such a useful tool but is completely inaccessible to me without custom imperial scales. Please make this feature accessible for folks working in imperial scales.

Thanks! I hadn't even thought of changing the left part of the dialogue! ;-)

Marek, yep, the dialog does not allow to type fractional values...
...but 1:1.5 is just 2:3, and 1:2.5 is 2:5. And it works.
And you can also set these as 10:15 and 10:25 if you wish — same result. -

Unfortunately 1:1,5 oder 1:2,5 is still not possible.

Please account for those who work in the US. We need a set of standard architectural scales as default and an ability to create custom scales such as 7 1/2"=10'-0. We'll need a scale calculator too, but I guess this is a different topic. below are standard arch scales:
1/16"=1'
3/32"=1'
1/8"=1
3/16"=1'
1/4"=1'
3/8"=1'
1/2"=1'
3/4"=1'
1"=1'
1 1/2"=1'
3"=1'
6"=1'
1"=1" -

Dimensions are great. Add user defined scales. Especially needed in the sign business. Thank you

Any kind of user defined scalings, including weird ones, like 1:1.5 would be great. I need those factors quite often! Also 1:15 which ist also not on the list of fixed scalings now.

I also found the preset ratio thing quite limiting. For instance, I would love a 72:1 as I work in points, but really want inches. A house fits neatly onto a 8X11 page at that scale.

This would be a welcome addition for many users, as documents can have almost any kind of scale.
