Option to add dimensions to current / specified layer
I enjoy the new dimension tool but find it annoying that it creates a whole new separate layer. Maybe my workflow is unconventional, but it would be nice if the dimensions could just be added to my print instructions layer instead of a whole new layer just for the dimensions. I make a lot of diecuts and find myself still using old methods to create the dimension lines due to it always putting them on another layer.

Allow us to turn off the new layer added when using the dimension tool. Dimensions should be added to the document like any other art object, on the currently active layer. Putting all the dimensions in a dedicated layer should be an optional setting.

Right now I have a plan and a ton of dimensions. Within the same document, on a same artboard, I need to create another smaller set of dimensions.
If we were able to control the layer Ai puts these in, I’d just go and set 'dimensions_electrics' for this new set I need to make.
But for now I’d have to create 'dimensions_general', put the existing ones in it, and collect new ones into 'Dimensions' (Capitalized, because screw us).
Thanks for never making anything perfect. I’m angry today, I had Ai crashed 5 times in one morning. -
A similar request, but about Swatch Info objects:
