Reinstate The Functionality Of The Swatches Panel In CS 5.5
I’d like to see the functionality of the Swatch panel that was in (Windows) Ai CS 5.5 reinstated. Specifically, when the panel was opened, I used to be able to toggle through the Color Modes by holding Shift and clicking on the color square (thumbnail). If I held Cntrl, it would toggle to the color compliment. These were two great features that were eliminated with CS 6 through to the current version of CC 2017. Bring these back!!

Illustrator and Photoshop show fractional CMYK color values differently
I have a CMYK document, and it has a linked image in it, with an intentionally chosen profile, with some specific colors set for the background, and these have to be the part of the background, because of blending modes used.
Now I need to grab those colors form the clear parts of the background to quickly transfer them into vector part of the design. But when I try — Ai lies about values.Instead of
70-15-0-0
0-35-85-0
0-95-20-0
I get
69.8-14.9-0-0
0-34.9-85.1-0
0-94.9-20-0Not much, right? Just 0.2%, why are you mad?
But these would be enough to break…3 votes -
Allow to place cards next to color chips instead of always below for Swatch Info objects
We can choose from two main layout options for Swatch Info: horizontal and vertical.
Horizontal puts 'cards' with text info below the chips, while Vertical option makes them... wait! Still below? Not next to it?
I think we should be able to choose if we want to place them on the side, rather then always at the bottom.
Take a look at a draft mockup attached.3 votes -
Allow to include gradients and patterns in Swatch Info objects
These ARE swatches, after all.
If we have these selected, we expect to have cards for these. The cards for these can state which colors were used in them.3 votes -
Add Preview option when creating a Swatch Info object
When we create a Swatch Info object, using a dedicated command from the Swatches panel’s menu, the dialog is missing Preview option we can enable and see how the parameters work in real-time.

Allow to actually drag-n-drop swatches on canvas to create a Swatch Info object
Von Glitschka originally requested this here — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/40192993 — but instead we got a buried menu command we can’t assign to a hotkey (here’s a request about this: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/49612313)
Please allow to create these with the actual drag-n-drop!
Make it so we can hold a modifier key while doing this to have a dialog (and do it silently by default instead).
Allow to add dragged swatches into the existing Swatch Info objects, highlight the exact positions these are going to be added, on canvas.3 votes -
Edit Colors panel - drag and drop from document swatches
In the "Edit Colors" panel, users can already select a document's color palette. However, it would be incredibly helpful to allow dragging and dropping individual colors from the document's palette directly into the active color set of an object.
Currently, users have to manually input color values (e.g., RGB), which is time-consuming. Adding a drag-and-drop feature would make this process more efficient and user-friendly, greatly improving the workflow for designers.
Thank you for considering this enhancement!

Ability to use CC Library colors directly within Recolor Artwork dialog (without having to create swatches first).
When recoloring a large batch of individual vector files, it's cumbersome to have to add swatches from CC Library for every single file in order to use those swatches in the recolor artwork dialog. It would be great to use the colors stored in CC Library directly in the recolor artwork dialog.

Make Pantone color swatches available
Sort out the stupidity of not having all the Pantone swatches available, to use as it used to be. I don't know what you guys are playing at with Pantone but their color books are industry standard in design and print. More importantly and they are NEEDED in order to work consistently. You need to bring them back what you currently have is next to useless. I am having to make new swatches and cross reference them with Pantone connect and save them, it's stupid.

Add Find/Replace Color feature from InDesign
I would love to use the Find/Replace feature for color just as it is now used in InDesign. Changing a color that isn't global is tedious when you have many fills, strokes, patterns and gradients using the same swatch. Thank you.

Give Pattern swatch an indicator icon in the Swatches panel
An often made mistake is that users drag a rectangle, filled with a color to the swatches panel, thinking that they added a new color swatch. In reality they created a pattern. Looking at the Swatches panel it is sometimes difficult to see the difference. In the attached example it is impossible to see which of the two green swatches is a color swatch or a pattern swatch. It would be good to have an indicator for pattern swatches, like spot or global color swatches. This is important when users want to to create a new pattern, fill parts of…

Recolor Artwork: Use Eyedropper to pick colors from Artwork
It would be nice if we could pick colors from artwork to to the Recolor Artwork with Eyedropper. Now if I want to match a color to an some existing color in canvas, I have to close the Recolor Artwork window, use the Eyedropper and then restart Recolor Artwork.
It would be great if we could just pick color from canvas while keeping Recolor Artwork open.

Recolor Artwork: Click the Artwork to Select color to recolor
It is often hard to pick the right color to edit from the Recoror Artwork UI. This especially when Editing colors that are close to each other.
It would be nice if we could click ( or ctrl/shift/alt+click) the artwork and select which color we want to edit in Recolor Artwork utility.

Recolor Artwork: Make the color wheel bigger !
It would be good if the size of Colorwheel in Recolor Artwork could be resized, made bigger.
Now if the colors are close to each other, it is impossible to select them in basic mode.
Also, adjusting colors isn't very accurate as the wheel is so small. Sure you can open the color setting by double clicking, but it would be so much easier to just have bigger color wheel.

Add a way to color monochromatic Patterns
Just like the Brush Stokes colorization.

Let recolor Artwork affect Global Swatches
When Artwork is recolored, we can choose to add new swatches, but those are not Global, while the old ones where.
Why not ask to update Global Swatches when applying?

Eye dropper tool matches colour to a Colour Book set of swatches
As a fashion designer, I always (have to!) work with colour books like Pantone etc. and it is extremely tedious when I use the eye dropper, or open up a default swatch, to then have to open the recolour artwork dialogue box and convert the colours into Pantones.
It would be so much easier, if we could set in preferences a colour library book as the default set of Swatches that illustrator works from, so that when I use the eye dropper, it will select the 'closest matching' pantone swatch and I do not have to go through the process…

Pattern... don't expand effects (example transform & symbols)
The new repeat function remains editable in patterns!!! (this is great), but transform effects & symbols get expanded. Keeping these from not getting expanded/flattened would be great.

Advanced Blend Colors Horizontally / Vertically
- make it work with compound paths
- give the user a choice to blend HSB (Blending R and B should give G) e.g. creating a rainbow should be possible with blending colors, but it isn't in the current version.

When entering colour values Illustrator searches your currently open swatch book for the same values.
So for example if you are doing a CMYK colour, once you've put in the values it comes up with a "suggested swatch" option that has the same values or even suggests swatches with similar/close values.
