  1. Ignore Groups and Clipping Masks

I lost about a Year of My Life double-clicking on objects within a group, inside of clipping masks. A less repetitive and MUCH faster way would be an option to "Ignore Groups and Clipping Masks" (i.e holding some key while clicking).

The option would temporarily (select-wise) treat grouped and clipped objects as normal objects, allowing direct click on an object through a clipping mask and ignoring groups. An "If you can see it, you can click on it!" approach for instant color and other adjustments.

This alone would speed up the workflow and, combined with wireframe view, it would be…

  2. Update links manually

Illustrator is constantly reading linked files, checking for changes. This is normally not a problem, but when the network is slow for any reason (like if you're working remotely over VPN) AI becomes unusable. Simple text changes become an ordeal as every time you switch tools or click anywhere, you have to wait for a minute or two as the links do... whatever they're doing. A simple panel-level option to turn off automatic link updates would make working remotely (which some say is the way of the future) much less painful.

  3. Support for Radeon VII (eGPU) in mac OS Catalina

Allow illustrator GPU performance to support the AMD Radeon VII graphics card in an eGPU enclosure. I use the GPU to accelerate my performance on a larger 5k 32" monitor and it would be really useful if Illustrator could make use of the GPU.

I have attached my current system info. This request follows from a community support request https://community.adobe.com/t5/Illustrator/Adobe-Illustrator-CC-2019-slow-amp-not-using-eGPU-radeon-VII-in/m-p/10658436#M147405

    Thanks

  4. SLOW

Running a BRAND NEW iMac Pro purchased this week. Almost $10k.
Even the simplest things like scrolling the workspace causes a lag.
This is insanely ridiculous that Adobe has not made their software to make use of new hardware. I read the comment below, where your support team said this is not a generic issue that can be replicated. From googling this issue, it has been a problem for over 2 years on all new machines. That is the definition of generic if it is happening to everyone. It happens on all applications that I use, PS, and LR. From…

  7. Ability to Designate Target Folder for Scratch Disk

At the moment, the user can only specify a target drive which provides limited control. I have a specific 'cache' folder on one of my drives which I use for other programs and I'd like to be able to point Illustrator to this folder as well. If applications don't let the user designate a specific folder, you end up with dozens of cache folders springing up all over the place. In today's data heavy world, keeping things organised is more crucial than ever.

  8. Develop an even better tool for illustrator like Zeplin

Can't you develop a tool like Zeplin or Sketch Measure for illustrators? For a long-term support illustrator users feel very disappointed!

  10. Ability to Set Scratch Disks on Startup

Our users need to change their Scratch Disk settings from the default Startup to a different drive in order for Illustrator to work correctly in our environment. This is more problematic now since our Mac Pro's have small SSDs. The fact that users have to launch Illustrator, navigate to preferences, change this setting, and then relaunch Illustrator before the Scratch Disk settings take effect is irritating. Unfortunately, in our environment this setting does not stick, so every time our users log in to a different computer they need to make this change.

Please add a feature, similar to Photoshop's OPT…

  11. I would really like a drop down menu to pick which graphics card I want to use

I would really like to be able to pick which graphics card I want to use in a drop down instead of illustrator automatically picking. Even though my 1080ti is the primary in my bios, illustrator insists on using the 780ti and I have no way of changing it without disabling my 780 all together. There needs to be a simpler way to change this

  12. Illustrator Lite Essential version, for 2D graphics only, without 3D

An "Illustrator Lite" that cuts out everything except the essential vector functions, and actually responds quickly, for crafters: no 3D, but with border feature etc. in order to work with digital cutters without expense

So it would be a entry level version of illustrator — concentrating on 2D output to SVG for electronic cutters, plotters and other crafting tools. Similar to Photoshop elements but for those needing to work with vector files.

  13. Bleed option for multi-color object

Currently if you expand an object with more than one color the paths will overlap where they meet. It would be beneficial if the expanded paths split the difference where they meet to better setup objects with bleed.

  15. Pattern Editing Mode - Add options copies 1x2 2x1 and 2x2 - Disable Thumbnail - Performance Enhancements

For more complicated patterns, 3x3 is too many copies to at least visualize how something tiles. If it's a brick, 1x2 or 2x1 would even be helpful, but at least 2x2 so you can see all seams.

Please create an option to disable the preview thumbnail in pattern editing mode. The thumbnail redraws for every edit, so more complicated patterns not only have to redraw on screen, but also create a miniature version. Hopefully those previews are images but if not, may be causing further issues when scaling down vectors.

Would it be possible to make a draft quality preview…

  16. Render performance problem with missing links

If you have a document with missing links then Illustrator show proxy images instead of originals. But when I want to work similar files then display performance is bad. Pan, zoom very very slow.

I am working with Macbook Pro M1 Pro, Adobe Illustrator Version 27, 28 or 29. View using CPU or GPU same results.

  18. Performance... GPU Performance - Second Check Box - CPU Default

Mac GPU still does not work correctly all the time. Until it does, there should be a Second Check box for GPU Performance.

there are times that the GPU is better, but most of the time it's completely glitchy. Until that's fixed we should have a CHECK BOX for DEFAULT to CPU.

Currently GPU Checked forces it to be on first. If uncheck you can not switch it without going into preferences.

It's a little thing but until this can be fixed, this is a better workflow... it might be good to keep even after it's fixed too.

  20. Shift + click on menu items (File, Edit, Object, etc) w/o closing menu after click

Whenever I use the menu items (File, Edit, Object, Text, Select, Effects, View, etc) sometimes you go into a submenu, and select one option, e.g:
    1. Go to View Menu
    2. Select Perspective Grid sub-menu
    3. Select Hide guides
    4. Go to View Menu (again)
    5. Select the Perspective Grid sub-menu (again)
    6. Find and click my option (eg. "Snap to guides")

Now if I could for example "shift+click" to keep the menus open after the click:
    1. Go to View Menu
    2. Select Perspective Grid sub-menu
    3. Shift+click "hide guides"
    4. Click "snap to grid" (without shift when I…
