The new button layout
I have found that the new button layout is not intuitive. I understand from talking with support that this is supposed to help new users. I don't think the extra steps to use certain functions is helpful, especially if you are coming from applications where all the buttons are readily available in the sidebar. Perhaps using a search bar mixed with the old layout style would be helpful. New users could search for their tool, while old users could access the tool they need more quickly. Perhaps also merging the top tool bar style and functionality in photoshop into illustrator.…

Can you provide extra steps in UI Scaling, please? For my dual screen config., it would be ideal if there was at least one step between.
As above. 2 steps between each existing would be ideal. It's only a little thing, but I use the middle setting at the moment, the Tools Pallet starts in 2 columns and I have to click it to 1 each time - the bottom bit gets trimmed off but that doesn't matter. If I set UI Scaling to the smallest size, then the Tools Pallet remains as I have set it on my workspace, but way too small.

Missing properties for properties panel
- When i select a text in a mask with direct selection tool or text tool the character and paragraph properties are not visible in the properties panel.
- Although align to artboard button is selected align panel is not visible in the properties panel if only one item is selected.
- Select same or object menu must be located in the properties panel like on the control bar.

Illustrator icon
I don't know if it annoys anyone else but it drives me crazy the Photoshop icon has rounded corners and the Illustrator icon has sharp corners. Why aren't all the Adobe icons either rounded or sharp, just be consistent!

Rounding errors when changing the unit
When working pixel-perfect, e.g. for creating icons, I switch the unit to pixels and the standard move distance to 1 px. After changing it to mm for different projects and then going back to pixels, it always goes to 1.0001 px distance - which means 2 px. Please fix this rounding error.

Shape-mode
Just as there is an outline-view, there should be a shape-view. I am incredibly tired of having to guess which parts of a path are part of a shape.
There should be a mode where the focus is the shapes that have been defined (e.g. through pathfinder or manually), and the status of any line in relation to a shape.
The overview should differentiate the status of every component by colour (e.g. part of a shape, part of multiple shapes, part of compound path etc) and then allow you to click on any element and see a list of which…

Take UI problems from users serious!!
Schön wäre es wenn man das UI "dezent" bzw. stufenlos skalieren könnte.
Am Retina iMac ist die kleine Schriftgröße und Symbolgröße in den Bedienfeldern eine Katastrophe!Schön wäre es auch wenn Voreinstellungen von Indesign, Illustrator und Photoshop alle am selben Ort zu finden wären.
Und eine dezente UI Skalierung für Indesign und Photoshop wär auch ein Hit. Ich verstehe nicht, warum man dies nur für Illustrator gemacht hat und da nur schlampig.2 votes -

Adding overprint toggles in the Separations Preview window
Currently, the overprint toggles are only in the "Attributes" panel but the overprint preview toggle is in the Separations Preview panel. Including overprint toggles in the Separations Preview panel allows the user to see the overprints in the file and toggle off/on any visible overprints prior to exporting/printing. This would save on workspace real estate by choosing to exclude the Attributes panel solely for overprint toggles.

Selection dependent tool display (context sensitive)
In Adobe Illustrator, I find myself searching for tool panels a lot.
How great would it be when Ai only displays relevant tool panels,For instance:
-Selecting the Eyedropper brings up color related panels, and the Info panel
-Selecting Paths brings up Pathfinder, Stroke and Fill
-Selecting Text brings up Paragraph and CharacterE.g: currently, it can happen that Pathfinder hides a type related panel, while text is selected.

Combine Separations Preview & Color palette.
Why not combine the Separations Preview and Color palette into one? It seems like there's plenty of space if you change the "C, M, Y, & K" to toggle buttons that turn on and off those colors and the percentage total at the bottom right. And maybe include the additional spot colors with a text link or expansion of the palette.

Workspace remembers panel size and collapsed state
I use Illustrator on my laptop screen and also when plugged into an external monitor.
When switching between these screens I often have to adjust which panels are collapsed, and the size of each panel, particularly when going from the smaller laptop screen to the external monitor.It would be very helpful if the workspace settings could remember not just which UI panels you have open, but their size and collapsed state. This way I could have a preference for when Illustrator is displaying on a 15" laptop and one for my 27" monitor.

Allow ZOOM when using spacebar while scrolling
When holding spacebar to pan over the document, please allow ZOOMING by scrolling on the mouse. Rather than having two separate keys. Quite tedious.

Close tabs to the right
Internet browsers have this option to "close tabs to the right" when right clicking on an open tab. I feel like this could be a nice extra to all of the Adobe programs, where one can work with tabs.

escape full screen
Why does the Escape key exit the user from full screen mode in Illustrator. Why does Illustrator not behave like Photoshop?
The F key could cycle through the different screen modes: Full screen, Full Screen with Menu Bar, Full Screen Mode.
Escape should have no effect on this because it's used while drawing or typing.

Create New Layers by Dragging and Dropping Groups or Objects from Original Layers
Please give us the ability to drag and drop Objects in-between Layers in order to create new Layers--without having to "Collect in New Layer."
On top of that, please retain the object's name as the Layer name when doing this action.

STOP changing the behavior of the tools!
I have used AI for over 20 years -- I've even been featured in books!! Why the F is the team changing the behavior of tools. IT AINT BROKEN and you're making it worse.
Just in the last 5 minutes I've found that I can no longer rotate a text box and have the text rotate, as well. Now the text stays put and the box rotates. WHY?
Also, when I save a new document (with it set to AI editable pdf) it's saving some other copy and the document that's currently open is still unsaved and untitled. How is…

Custom background color for tool windows
Currently working with dual monitors, one monitor has most of my tool windows.
If I am using one window of tools most of the time, it would be nice to set the base color to orange so I can spot it easier. Or even group windows that are similar to say green, and rarely used windows would remain grey.2 votes -
Make deleting a layer simpler and closer to how Photoshop handles it

Illustrator works terribly with the Microsoft stylus.. both the interface needs to be completely overhauled to work with touch
Illustrator needs a complete overhaul in order to work as a touch interface with a stylus... the 'touch' workspace is a step in the right direction but needs more features including layers.. also the performance is terrible in working with a pressure sensitive stylus and results in misleading line weight lagging and locking up and freezing.. I am using the surface pro (5)
