Create symbols from Global Edit
Global Edit is great, but it should have a way to make the globally selected items into multiple instances of a symbol. Once you start Global Edit, as long as the individual items qualify as being instances of the same symbol, that option should be made available to you.

Yes! I've been wanting this too. So many of us create copies of art, and scatter them all over the document before realizing they could be symbols. At that point, Illustrator should help when it recognizes those copies (Global Edit) by giving the option to create symbols. We also need the placed instances to adopt the scale and rotation of the original copies. And I agree with Egor, we need at the very least, to be able to get a selection from objects in Global Edit (although I like the workaround you posted about show/hide).

Meanwhile there is a commercial script to achieve this:
https://sttk3.com/blog/tips/illustrator/global-edit-to-symbol.htmlYou might want also like another one, to replace global-edited objects with symbols at once: https://sttk3.com/blog/tips/illustrator/global-edit-to-symbol2.html
Sure, both methods should be available from the box, along with converting found objects into a selection: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/38097442
