Make Desktop and iPad versions look the same
It would be a lot easier if both versions of Illustrator (desktop and iPad) looked the same, especially for new learners.

I have been working with Adobe Illustrator on my desktop for over 25 years, the program works flawlessly and I love it. I use the program daily for my work as an illustrator and designer. As a design teacher I also learn my students how to work with Adobe Illustrator.
From the moment Illustrator became available on the iPad I installed the app because a lot of my work and my designs start on my iPad. I had hoped to be able to extend the user experience of Illustrator on the desktop to my iPad but after countless attempts and years of frustration I have come to the conclusion that the app is a horror to work with! What's more, it is simply unusable.
The intuitive workflow of Illustrator on the desktop is nowhere to be found on the iPad. Half of the tools barely work, icons are different and give a different result when using them, tools are grouped differently, basic functions are missing, etc.
It is as if the programmers of the app and the desktop version do not consult each other at all and both mainly do their own thing.
I can understand that you can't translate a desktop version 1 on 1 to an app. But the current app and the desktop version are currently as far apart as Earth and Pluto. To create a smooth workflow this is simply too far apart
It can be done differently, because there are apps that do succeed in creating a good vector app on the iPad. And that are also a lot cheaper than the junk that Adobe currently produces.
My tip is to throw this iPad app in the trash and start over! Because otherwise the headlines will soon be "Adobe overtaken by the competition".

Sorry but I have respectfully to disagree.
I have used all the others and illustrator for iPad is so far ahead it is hilarious. I've been using illustrator since Illustrator 88 and this is by far the best version there has ever been for any OS. Yeah better than the desktop version (module a couple of missing features). There's still room for improvement but it is not only the best vector drawing app, I think there's a good chance it's the best iPad app I've ever used period.

Sorry, but I think it's actually just right as is. The two apps are form fitted well to their environments. It is if anything, positive that they are different.

Wesley, the goal for the Illustrator on the iPad was never to replicate the desktop experience.
On the contrary, the team tried to embrace the completely different approach a touch screen and a pencil give.
You can read about the original idea here: https://blog.adobe.com/en/publish/2020/10/20/redesigning-illustrator-for-the-ipadStill, some users think that having the exact same UI can somehow lead to the same UX.
So this request exists: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/931888-illustrator-ipad-feature-requests/suggestions/42520507-make-desktop-and-ipad-versions-look-the-same
Do you mind me merging yours into this larger one? -

I miss the desktop interface on the iPad. Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I can't see it as an improvement. This is from a user who started in the beta days with illustrator 3 when it was simply a type drawing tool .

These are two very different devices, that physically could not have been efficient if they had the same UX.
The border will eventually become more blurred, but... 'make brush and pencil (chainsaw and table saw) to look the same!' — tools differ, although goals match.
Don’t worry, we can learn anything.

Be able to mirror or have a desktop classics that can be used by iPad, make transitioning from iPad to desktop easier.

I love the iPad version but I wish it was more like the desktop at least with the option in the "effects, view, windows select " I am a fashion designer and I design flats. Many of the things I would like to use are in the tool bar section. I know the iPad version is new so I am excited for what's new to come.

I have an iPad and there are not many features as such on the web. I would like to see an icon on the apple to switch device visual function to desktop or app.

I think Adobe should go back to the drawing table and create a real illustrator for iPad version.
There are to manny bugs and there is to much missing to be useful for me as a professional designer.
At the moment there is way better vector software. Maybe you should have a look at them.
