An error occurred while saving the comment JL, does not happen for me with 27.7 on Windows 10...
Perhaps it’s a Mac thing. What version of Ai you are having?
Does it crash when you try triple-clicking in other fields, like Transform panel or Control?
Does clicking a caption of a field (which also selects the field) work fine? -

An error occurred while saving the comment I assume it does not happen anymore... but if it does, please check if you have Use Preview Bounds enabled in Preferences > General. When it’s enabled, Ai adds the strokes into the calculated size of an object.

An error occurred while saving the comment A temporary workaround would be to find and delete the 'CCX Welcome' folder and to relaunch Ai... it works for me, but then after some time Properties goes blank again.

An error occurred while saving the comment Funny thing is that while Rectangle Width / Height can’t be used to expand the shape back, W and H fields ibn Transform can (but only when the shape is not rotated, obviously)...

An error occurred while saving the comment Yeah, Garrett, this is a known problem and the team tries to solve it. They wanted to improve and failed.
Some changes were already made. If you are on 27.6.1 — please update to 27.7.
While the Black & White preset the previous versions had by default is not restored back yet, you can try to tweak values manually to check if the result. Specifically, make the threshold to 128, lower the noise level to 1-2 (in the case of this halftoned computer is seems to be a good value). Please write back if you notice any improvements.
If you are able to share the original image here, the team can make some tests as well.
More changes are coming and we all hope this time they are going to be for the better :/ -

An error occurred while saving the comment True. Voted.
But legacy is a weird thing — once something is introduced, you can not touch or change it without a backlash.
Here is a good summation of how it works: https://xkcd.com/1172/
It means that someone can rely on these names :)I rarely use default presets at all and have a set of my own.
But the main purpose of these relict brushes is to teach new users these exist and can be made, used and customized.
Sure, these also get embedded into each new saved document if one does not clean them...
It’s a tough knot to unravel. Somehow presets should teach but not get saved.AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Have you tried to reset preferences?
Corrupted preferences can lead to errors like this, and they don’t get reset when you uninstall/reinstall.
Here is a nice instruction on how to delete them: https://astutegraphics.com/support/tutorials-and-troubleshooting/resetting-illustrator-preferences -

An error occurred while saving the comment Shakil, can you share a screenshot of it, if it still behaves strange?
I don’t notice anything unusual in the way Properties display its scrollbar. Or do you mean something else by 'overflow'? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Jeff, one can make a panel stay until it is closed, if you disable Auto-Collapse Iconic Panels option in Preferences > User Interface section.
As for the toolbars — yeah, they don’t have a way to get scrolled when trimmed by the app’s frame... voted.AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment I know two workflows to make this happen.
First.
1. Enable smart guides
2. Grab the intersection of the rulers (the zero point) and drag it over the center of your object (assuming there is one, you can enable it in Attributes panel with Show Center), or to a chosen point on canvas. If your pattern is built with its center in the center of its module, this should effectively center the module in the object.
3. Cut the shape
4. Reset coordinates (or return them to their original position in cases you were not using the default zero). Make sure you have Transform Pattern Tiles option enabled in Preferences!
5. Paste the object
Now you have the pattern centered.
Just watch the GIF.Second.
Use a free script instead — Reset Pattern.jsx by Toshiyuki Takahashi (gau)
Download it from here: https://github.com/gau/reset-patternAn error occurred while saving the comment This drop-down sucks.
Jan, there is a similar request to this:
Last used script

However, you want a history (which is great to have) while I asked only for the single one, the latest.
Still they both refer to history and can be merged. What do you think about this?
