Hello everyone,
Lately we have been thinking about improving the snapping / smartguide experience on Illustrator and we need your help in this process.
Please spare us some time of yours where we can come together on a online meeting and discuss your needs and pain point around snapping.

An error occurred while saving the comment David commentedThis is still a HUGE problem for map creation - we're often working with large amounts of GIS-sourced linework (elevation contours, trails, roads, streams...) and the new Object > Path > Simplify tool is simply unusable for smoothing and simplifying these lines. PLEASE bring back the old (pre-2019) tool!

Dear Users,
We have taken the feedback provided and have released with improvements as a new update (24.0.2) to Illustrator. Please update to the new version and let us know your feedback on the current version that has been released.
We aim to do continuous improvements and your feedback helps us to get better. Keep sending them.
Thanks,

The old (pre-2019) Simplify tool worked very well, but the new one doesn't smooth the lines properly (it adds lots of non-smooth corners, i.e. where the anchor point handles are at two unrelated angles instead of being paired). I have tinkered with the Simplify Curve and Corner Point Angle Threshold sliders and there's no setting that gives the results I need. And the new tool changes the line shapes more than the old tool did.
This is a HUGE productivity-killer, as I now have to manually edit hundreds of lines so they look smooth.
PLEASE either add the option to use Simplify Classic™ instead of New Simplify™, or (as another commenter suggested) at the very least add a "force round corners" checkbox.
I appreciate you adding this tool. I have a couple of issues with this new beta Object > Path > Smooth command/"Smoothing HUD", one minor and one major:
1) The user interface is too small and simple, and doesn't have the option to open an advanced panel like the Simplify tool does. The UI doesn't offer any feedback like telling you the before/after number of anchor points or having an option to show the pre-smoothed lines behind. And you can't type in the smooth % you want - you have to use the slider, which is hard to use and laggy, and sometimes it skips numbers (i.e. one time I used it I couldn't get it to 7% - it kept jumping between 6% and 8% no matter how carefully I moved my mouse).
2) My major issue with it is that, although its results look better than the current Simplify tool, it still doesn't create truly-smooth paths. For more detail on what I mean, see this Adobe Discussion thread I posted, including replies and attached files: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/i-need-pre-2019-object-gt-path-gt-simplify-functionality/m-p/14117484#M382110
Overall, I would prefer it if you'd also (or instead) reintroduce the pre-2019 version of the Simplify tool, which was awesome.
Thank you!
I'd be more than happy to discuss this further with someone from Adobe.
