The team rolled out a change in the latest Beta 30.4.0.187, allowing us to clear the list with a dedicated command.
Please try and comment back if this covers your needs.
Notice we still can’t filter files in Recent menu/section to include only AI documents and exclude chosen formats (like PDF, JPEG, TIFF, Save a Copy, etc.) — upvote it if this is something you need.

Dear Team Illustrator, Please add a "clear recent" option at the bottom of the recent file menu (like photoshop). It would be a great help for users. Thanks!
