Yes, I don't know why i recorded the screen and when I switched from Rhino to Ai it didn't work.

    1 - all correct.

    2 - yes, i voted

3 - the reason is that it doesn't actually make sense to dimension the void, so I've never tried. But if it is necessary to avoid snapping problems, it can be useful

4 - correct. Solve this problem will be very important for me and for my team.

    thank you for all

attached to the message you have a short video, where i'm comparing rhino and AI.

1 - yes, CADtools have too much different kind of dimension. As I said previously, the fundamentals are 5-6 maximum. the really important function of CADTOOLS is the serial multiple dimension. that is really effective. furthermore, both CADtools and Rhino, when you change the size of an object. automatically change his dimensions.
2 - i think AI team never have to dimension a drawing, sorry. We use radius and diameter dimension for different kind of information. Simple ex: radious for a vertex of an object and diameter for a *****. I know thad d=2r, but when you make object, you need two kind f different data.
For orthogonal dimensions: yes, shift could be an important and appreciate improvement.
    3. yes is true, i never try it before
    4. I don't understand very well this point. But...Rhino could snap a dimension to a previous one in some point (ex: vertex of the arrow, final and middle point of the extension line, center of the text of the dimension, maybe more). The most important point is that Rhino (better also than CADtools) have a
has a hierarchy for snaps. the first thing it looks for is the object, because obviously it is the object that must be quoted. So if it has a vertex and the end point of a dimension nearby, it always snap the vertex. Also if the dimension layer is on top. this is really important.

    thank you

Hi Egor, thanks for your reply. Yes, I mean 'dimension', sorry for my bad english.
    - happy for disable units
    - for snaps, no, it doesn't work very well. Try to draw a square and have his maximum dimension, starting from the same point. Of course, AI generate first dimension in a top layer, then, if the drawing doesn't have much zoom, AI automatically searches for the next dimension the final point of the previuous one ( because it's in the highest layer, i think). But AI itself doesn't allow you to snap to a dimension! :) it's a mistake. to snap the point that i want i have to zoom a lot.
    - for orthogonal dimension, yes, I know, but it's too complicate. please think about of a drawing full of strokes, lines, objects, texts. It is not possible to hold the guide perfectly to have an orthogonal dimension. Also, I must have the extension line of the dimension near the point I snap.

    - regarding rhino:
1 - you have a lot of options for costumize your quote.
2 - basically you have 5 principal sub tools: orthogonal dimension, aligned dimension, radius dimension, diameter dimension, angle dimension. First you choose the type of data you want, than you can quote without problem.
3 - you can quote everything, also the empty space also some elements of the other dimensions.
4 - if you try to snap the same point, it prefer to snap to a line/vertex (to an object) instead of an other dimension...because it's not smart quote a dimension (but, as I say previously, you could do that)

The Beta 28.4.0.7 now create live dimension objects, that track and follow the changes to the measured objects: resizing, rotating, moving...

As for now, moving only dimension breaks the link and expands the dimension (hopefully will change, and break the link only).

Moving an object with its related dimension currently expand the dimension as well (hopefully won’t do it either).

Please test the change and share feedback — it helps a lot!
