The choice of the type of a symbol is sticky in the latest version of Illustrator. If a user toggles it to Static, it remains Static when another symbol is created — and vice versa.
An error occurred while saving the comment Kristen Katz commentedBetter yet just make those settings the user can select and set their own defaults. I use almost exclusive dynamic and would be equally sad if that wasn't my default. I totally vote for the option to set our own defaults in symbol creation.

In the latest versions the chosen option for symbols sticks once you select Static instead of Dynamic ands stays like this for each new symbol we create further: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/32371252

This can be done with Transform panel’s flyout menu — disable 'Use Registration Point for Symbol' option.

Illustrator for desktop allows to save and import brushes with an ease.
To save brushes, just save a document with your brushes as an .ai file. You don’t have to have them on canvas for this, just in Brushes panel.
To load brushes, click the Brush Libraries Menu button in the bottom left corner of the Brushes panel (looks like a bookshelf). Choose Other Library, locate the brush library .ai file.
If you want to create, save and import brushes in Illustrator for iPad — you have to vote for this feature here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/931888-illustrator-ipad-feature-requests/suggestions/41682511-import-or-create-brushes

Especially for clipped objects. There's no logic to why it would be greyed out for clipped objects and it would really be a game changer for it to work. It seems like it should already work and it took me a while to find this post to realize it just is known that it doesn't function that way at this time. Bummer.
