How important is this to you?

We are excited to announce that this feature is now available in all the public builds starting V29.1.

The new 'Create swatch info' helps you share color information accurately with others by including color codes.

To use this, just select the colors from the swatch panel and click on 'Create swatch info' in the menu options.

You can customise the size, layout, color codes etc.

Please try out this feature and let us know what you think!

Just to clarify 'Completed' doesn't means the UV is 'Closed', it simply means the UV is available publicly in the GA builds. The UserVoice platform doesn't allow us to have a intermediate status hence the confusion.

We are currently gathering all the user feedbacks and working on a plan to address them.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Unfortunately the 'Create Swatch Info' isn't what this UserVoice request was for? The 'Create Swatch Info' functionality is also not unique or innovative, it's derivative of scripts like 'Render Swatch Legend' which has been out for years. And frankly it doesn't look very good.

I want drag-and-drop actual swatches I can tile and compare tonal values, or select an object and click them to fill a color without going to the swatches palette. But I guess that is too hard for your team of engineers to pull off?

BTW 'Create Swatch Info' Is another half-baked feature. It's all vector so why can't we make it what ever size we want? Why is it hidden in an option menu? Why can't we make a keyboard shortcut to it? I digress.

Sad you could have been truly innovative and all you did was replicate what already existed.

The need: To be able to drag and drop swatches onto the art board in Ai so we can compare hues and judge color values next to one another.

The problem to solve: Swatches are currently stagnant. I more flexible work flow allowing us to use color swatches the way we prefer and make exploration and tonal value comparisons easier would benefit both designers and illustrators.

I don't expect anyone on the Ai team to full comprehend this since you don't have anyone on the team that builds brand identity on a daily basis or works out colors for illustration everyday either etc.

In all reality you own this type of technology already since you bought Macromedia Freehand which allowed users to do this. So in that respect this isn't a new feature.

It's far more useful on a daily basis having this functionality then it is other features you've invested time in: Intertwine which just mocks up a look, but ultimately you still have to manually build it so it's not as useful as it seems. Text-to-Vector is another hot mess that produces unprofessional clip-art quality poorly constructed vector images.

I would suggest have a setting to enable this feature. By default it could be set to off so no noobs won't get confused, but allow pros to go in and check the box to enable it.

How about giving the user both. Let us have more choices. But based on how you framed the responses above I'd pick 2. 1 just seems like what we already have and if the swatches have white lines around them it doesn't help to make value judgements. Why can't you do what I mocked up in 'Drag-and-Drop_Swatches' image above? Then just give us controls like no white outline and let them behave like a regular swatch does?

And since someone on the Ai team will read this, when will you fix the snapping bug in Ai? It's been over ten years and I showed your engineers in 2019 when I was in New Delhi and they confirmed it's broken but still no fix on a vector building functionality that should be ironclad dependable and isn't?

The site wouldn't accept my original login. So I just voted for this again with my new login. It's like having a clone. I'm curious how many votes it takes to be added to a dev list? How many votes did it take to change the guides in Ai that no one was asking to be changed?

Don’t ask me why it does this? The only common denominator I see is it only happens when I move vector art from Fresco to Ai on the desktop. If I select an anchor point within a group and make some other type of selection (Don’t ask me for specifics because I’m not sure? I just know it’s happening when selecting anchors) Ai goes into what I call ‘Freak Mode’ and just starts randomly displaying strange color selections. These will continue to change and display for like eight minutes. It’s kind of beautiful in a way, but highly frustrating. If I don’t want to wait I have to force quit Ai and relaunch. I screen grabbed several images and managed to capture the last few seconds in a video screen capture too. Not sure if anyone else has ever ran into this before? But it’s happened to me enough to know it only happens with vector art pushed from Fresco to Ai on Desktop then working within that file in Ai, it’s never happened in any other context for me.

I want the ability to toggle on/off visibility. Wouldn't change layer association just not show the content related to that dartboard.

Not having this option makes the whole feature not very helpful if you can't create a re-usuable asset like a pattern swatch.
