And it’s now in Beta 28.1.0.100 and you can try it and see if it works as expected. This really feels like a fixed bug, something we all should have had from the day inside/outside strokes got introduced.

Please, give it a go and comment back!

If you are also interested in having this option to work with gradient-on-stroke modes, consider upvoting this request: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/31953622-non-functional-gradient-stroke-along-across-option

YES PLEASE! This will also be helpful when dealing with pixel-perfect artwork. As mentioned, aligning an unclosed path to a shape doesn't work, and makes working in pixel mode a pain - throws alot of things off. If the path were able to flip to a side, it would be much easier workflow! I get that it has never been available, but back in the day, things were much more limiting. Seems like it shouldn't take much to offer this option. Pretty please!

Also, it would be handy to be able to have a stroke offset along a path - like say 15 pixels to the left side of the path, etc. Would be handy in many occurances. But first and foremost, is the afforementioned request. Seems well past time to offer that functionality.

Yes, the Recolor dialog does not have its own undo stack, and all changes are permanent. Since Recolor is often used as an experimentation tool, this behavior limits the freedom and forces users to avoid it and loose applied settings.

The team is now aware of the situation and hopefully some changes will be made.
