 commentedUpdate. This went away with a reboot. Wonder what gets left in memory when you close the software, only to cause a conflict after an update. Then clears out with a power cycle.  Anonymous

4 votesThis is what Illustrator is capable of now with Preferences > GPU Performance options turned on. It should work for both linked or embedded images, vector or raster, exactly as you described. If it does not happen for you — please report it as a bug, and provide screenshots or screen recordings of the behavior, along with full OS and app specs.  Anonymous

On the Mac, you can go to apps, open Illustrator 2024 folder, right click Illustrator app and choose show package contents. Search for "gen" to find interesting things that might turn this off. If anyone has time to experiment, many would be grateful. Risk involved, as this would alter an extension that may be referenced elsewhere. If Adobe refuses to listen to thousands of users and solve these stupid popups, maybe the users have another way of resolving this. How much are we spending for this?
