I will add to this posting with a bit more detail.
I have and have had this problem for a long time in Illustrator, including the latest version, CC2019.
I have several identical artboards in a file. And when I sau identical, I mean copied with ALT + Shift with the artboard tool.
Now. If I have a single object I copy then paste in place on another artboard, it usually is placed in the same location on the new artboard.
BUT. If I copy several objects (like text areas + vector shapes + something else) and then try and paste in place Ctrl + Shift + V the placement is kind of random. The pasted items either end up on the same artboard, or near the originating artboard. Please keep in mind that I am activating the artboard I'm trying to paste to by clicking on it before pasting.
Also, sometimes, the pasting in place works fine the first time I do it in a file, but then goes to the random behavior like explained above.
Please fix this, it's annoying as ****.
Oh and thank you guys for making the CC 2019 Illustrator more responsive when working with complicated artboards, the panning and general feel is much improved.
