It's definitely better approximation and errors are harder to spot but visible (blue arrow in attachment). Expanding stroke with caligraphic brush gives a shape with lot of self-intersecting. This should be easy to solve. Mentioned intersecting is visible before expanding stroke (red arrow in attachment).

I am sure that anomalies in look of strokes painted with oval brush are due to low precision computing. Saying that we have ALWAYS errors (bad approximation, randomness) in oval brush visual representation - more or less visible. In precise work like calligraphy, logos... this tool is unusable. I can think off use cases where randomness of stroke is nice but for this tool it should be option especially when Angle/Roundness/Size is set to Fixed with no variation. In attachment is picture illustrating amount of deviation.

once more who struggled with this bug for years. It seem to me that is something wrong in precision in computing line appearance. Better approximation of visual appearance of path can be achieved with adding extra points:
    1. thru OBJECT->PATH->ADD ANCHOR POINTS (multiple times) or
    2. with reversible effect EFFECT->DISTORT&TRANSFORM->ROUGHEN with settings: Size 0% and Detail 100 (similar to previous - basically add controlled number of points between existing)

This tour popup is in Illustrator to stay forever and on the very purpose of slowing down software/creation and introducing new bugs in upcoming versions. Looks like a roadmap for some time?
We should be CAREFUL when upgrading Adobe software on production systems in future. Bug list should be presented and available as the New Features in new versions so we can understand with what we will have to deal before upgrade and is it worth.
... and what a nice little doggy on transform tool! Does anyone know if there is a hidden elephant somewhere?
