1. recolor vector motifs - for different colorways
2. want the ease of the iPad to do this - AI is already on the iPad
3. Pattern making is halfway done on the iPad; colorways are the logical next step
4. nobody wants to color separate their illos or motifis to a bazillion different layers just so we can fake colorways with either direct color drops* or some sort of clipped hue sat adjustment - which do zero for for the randomness of what Desktop AI recolor tool does
*juuust realized one such color drop/colorway - would have to have layers grouped; dupe the group to create another colorway - on repeat - crazy file size and time waster - sooo recolor on the iPad please !Note: please send to Team Fresco - as I like to 'sketch' vector motifs with the vector pens - don't mind if Team Fr adds a pattern repeat tool - but even if they don't I can still use recolor tool - not just for patterns; but for practically any illo

- my original submission kinda mirrors yours and I agree with what you say :)idea for better file organization -Homescreen AI

introducing the idea of SECTIONS - create; rename and roll ur own (see UI mockup below)
the “Your files” are a mix of files/folders- can this be ...
- first and foremost: Select multiple files (may or may not be consectutive)- sorted by files/folders
sorted by date created
view auto by date created option
just as important - a lot of us create templates to reuse -
or are working on certain ‘right now’ critical files (any date created” or we simply want to flag certain files for whatever reasonintroducing - the idea of SECTIONS in the file gallery
(see UI mockup pic below - attached png fileSections (which I could name them for whatever purpose)
and would comprise:
say:
a template section;
a files I am working on right now section; etc
would be - collapsable; reorder them; etc
and below that (or above that !) would be the standard
“Your Files section)when I create say a new template and want it to appeqr in say a templates section that I create
…it could be annotated at the file level - along with file rename; file section ….somehow
or :smile: ! you can drag/drop - long press/slide file into the section you want
- ditto long press folder into the section you want ...
and if the file is waaay down your gallery of say 200 files and your section is waaay up north ....- then select file: long press; get option to move/copy etc to ... Section .. (ie the Sections I create would show in a dropdown menu)
the UI mockup below says it all hopefully

as an illustrator who likes to create hand drawn motifs - like 50 to a sketchbook page; then use microns ...
it is great to be able to vectorize in one pass alll 50 (one layer) - voila !
but THATs it
I cannot separate them (need lasso select for that )
So : basically a lovely but useless exercise
Alternative: take my cleaned up in iPad PSD scanned motif art and select every one in either iPad PSD or FR using their lovely LASSO tool ...
But then have to promote each item to another layer
NOT ok when you have a ton of motifs on a sketchbook page (common practice)
Yes: I eventually have to isolate them and promote to another layer
HOWEVER ... with at least 50-60 layers - dont expect to export that to AI iPad - file size is too big
Alternate; split the PSD file 6 - to 10 ways and open up each split in AI
Simply not happening
Please: can someone finish the job ?
Vectorize is great on the iPad (works like a champ for handdrawn inked motifs)
- which have to be on one layer for iPad to handle
However, vectorize is rendered useless if you cannot isolate each motif
RN - you cannot export out AI and as AI or SVG and open in say Fresco to use the FR lasso tool (that needs to change)
