  1. Saving PDF without modifying embedded images

Universities use LaTex PDF in researches for a good reason. The PDF produced by a LaTex app won't resample or blow-up the embedded images (JPEG). As a researcher, it will save us a lot of time if illustrator PDF setting has the option to not resample or alter the embedded images. A JPEG image (1920 x 1920 pixels) of a size 200 KB will make illustrator PDF file of about 10 MB. Whereas the PDF file produced by a LaTex app will be slightly bigger than 200 KB. I hope Adobe engineers will consider this issue.

  2. Marking already-placed images after import

Having Illustrator flag placed images (by small icon or turning the text to italics?) under the "File > Place" pop-up window when using LIST mode (by Illustrator finding duplicates comparing in the Links pallete) helping the user keep track when a large number of images need to be placed.

Right now if I have 50 images to place I have to use memory of where I was placing each or compare links pallete to finder window as a list to check at the end.

  3. Placed psd layer comps keep their visibility regardless of color space(s)

Make layer comp visibility overrides work regardless of color space. When placing layer comps from PSD, the color spaces for both documents need to be the same in order for the layer comp visibility overrides to be sticky in AI. If one is CMYK and the other is RGB, and the layer comps are changed, the placed comps do not keep their original comp visibility overrides.
This is related to this thread: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/placed-layer-comps-don-t-keep-overrides-when-amending-originating-psd/m-p/13024880#M326073

  4. Retain layer blend modes from Photoshop when placing in Illustrator.

Please, allow the layer blend modes from Photoshop files to be retained when placing them in Illustrator. It's done within Corel, it should be native to Adobe products.

  5. Missing link visual preference option

Allow an option in preferences for missing links to be view or show an empty image box. The visual image can be an issue with some industries dealing with a variety of clients and file volume.

    Previewed file with the image
    Printed file without the image

  7. Nommer les images incorporées

Pour avoir la possibilité de retrouver les images incorporées au besoin.

  8. Display resolution - custom field in Document Setup and the links panel.

Display resolution should be a custom field in Document Setup and the Links panel, and should set the default scaling of placed images in the document.

Right now, linked or embedded 'RasterItems' have a default scaling resolution of 72ppi, and you can't change it. But 72ppi is an anachronism, it doesn't reflect most use cases.

The impact is that placed images appear in the document much too large, and it wastes a lot of extra clicks to resize placed images. That could all be avoided if there was a simple way to change the default display resolution to match the…

  9. Select "Replace" by default once a clipped linked element is selected

This is a very simple fix for something extremely frustrating: once a clipped linked image is selected (using the direct selection tool), the importing option should be to Replace the element by default (instead of having to manually select it EVERY SINGLE TIME). If nothing is selected, the logical default behavior then would have the Replace option unchecked.

  10. Change paths to links when a project is duplicated

When I duplicate files with their respective links in a new folder, in order to produce a new art in the same format as the first. Illustrator does not change the link address, when I click on "Edit Original" it opens the link of the first folder, if we are not aware, we end up editing the link of the wrong folder.

  11. As a user, I want to be informed when I am importing a 16-bit image that they are not supported and need to be converted to 8-bit

Since AI devs don't seem keen to add 16-bit functionality to AI, at the very least, support your users by informing them that they are importing something that AI cannot display correctly.

  12. Define a default placement option

Make it possible to define other placement options in preferences. So you can, for example, make complete documents with "File dimensions" as a preference

  13. Sort content in links palette + User controlled preflight warnings

Added sorting ability in links palette would be very useful.
Allowing me to sort by file size, alpha, date placed, date altered. Similar to finder or windows explorer. Allowing me to rearrange the columns to suit my needs.

A preflight indicator of any potential conflicts would be a nice add as well.
CMYK doc with an RGB image placed. Unused nodes swatches, does this doc contain any overprint items, that kind of thing. In a perfect world I could set in prefs what I want warnings for.

  14. Keep link when placing DXF/DWG file

    Hi,

Could it be possible to keep the link to the original file when placing a DXF or a DWG in Illustrator?
The goal is to be able to update the view if the external file change...
having the geometry active like it's done for text glyph in order to be able to snap to geometry could be the cherry on the cake.

    Many thanks

  15. include additional information in the XMP metadata to indicate image status (linked or embedded)

  16. Copy images from the web and paste them directly in Illustrator

Please, guys, let us copy images from the web or our OS and paste them directly into Illustrator as Figma does.

In general...can you look at everything that Figma does when it comes to UX and take inspiration from there? I think there's a lot of room for improvement when it comes to UX in Adobe products :D

    Thanks in advance!

  18. Unembed JPEGs & PNGs

Please return the feature from the older versions that lets you unembed JPEGs & PNGs. I hate that it's only possible to do with TIFFs and PSDs now. It's such a pain when you're trying to reduce the file size.

  19. Ability to change layer visibility of linked artwork

It would be great if we could turn on/off the layers of linked artwork.
At least linked AI files — but PSD would be great too.
