All modern applications can generate QR code. Why Illustrator still can't do it? You need to add it with parameters: indents from QR code and fill color.

In addition to the fact that InDesign has a QR generator, ExtendScript also includes the ability to create QRs using the createHyperlinkQRCode(string) method. If a QR generator is added to Illustrator, it is absolutely necessary to provide access to it via ExtendScript as well.

A way to create QR codes directly in Illustrator now is this free QRCodeMakerPro extension by Ten Agata:

In the same way that Indesign has the ability to create QR codes, add that same feature to Illustrator! Make it very robust with features that ID doesn't have.

Would love to have Illustrator to have a feature to create vector QR code on the fly.

With the continued development of AR and the use of QR codes to access those functions, it's striking to me that Adobe hasn't included this in Illustrator as well. It was requested in October 2017; let's revive that request.

InDesign gives you the ability to generate a vector QR code on the fly, I was unable to find a way to do this in Illustrator and would love to have this option if possible. I design a lot of packaging art that will sometimes require a QR code. This way, I can generate a QR code that is a high quality vector without having to import one from another source. Thanks!
