Zoom with scroll wheel / Pan with middle click
A lot of softwares have same useful navigation-shortcuts, which illustrator doesn't have;
Zoom = scroll wheel
pan = middle click
It is confusing, if you want to switch illustrator with other softwares (like autocad or even Photoshop).
It would be useful, If changing default setting is possible.
Hi Everyone,
We have added a preference to enable ‘Zoom with Mouse Wheel’. Go to Preferences→ General→ Enable ‘Zoom with Mouse Wheel’.
Also, now you can pan the doucment using the middle click of the mouse.
Both of these functionality are available since January 2021 release (version 25.1) onwards.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback

I have recently been using and learn CAD for my job and I would love to see the pan scroll wheel function and a few other feathers that CAD offers integrated with Adobe products especially Illustrator. The middle click to pan and the continue arc functions are the two I would really love to see in the next Illustrator update.

This would improve workflow 10 fold. Sick of holding down the spacebar, dragging the mouse, holding option while scrolling, all while this could merely be done with a single gesture of the mouse.

It would be much easier to have an option to zoom in/out by using only moue scroll

Would really appreciate being able to zoom in and out with the scroll wheel and pan by clicking it, just like in AutoCAD. Zoom focus would be relative to the cursor, so you can quickly move to any part of the document. This is a far easier and intuitive system, as navigating the canvas becomes twice as fast.
At the vary least there should be an option to enable this functionality, as some may prefer the current setup.
