It's so frustrating that this basic functionality is still not supported.
Copy + paste.. that's it. It's 2020. -

Yeah. Even in a much more newer program like sketch, you can literally select and copy artboards from one document and paste them with all their background/guides/hidden layers and object between files. In fact you can also actually drag artboards between pages and also between documents.
This is a sorely needed feature for illustrator. Imagine you designed icons using a grid template in various files. Now you have to hand-over a single file and merge all 100 icons into a new file. That's going to be a really tedious process if you can't merge files/artboards easily.

I frequently build large Mural Walls 720" x 192", or complex vehicle wraps, and I panel the art in illustrator, for reproducibility. being able to select and duplicate Artboards from one file to another would be extremely helpful. Also being able to show and hide individual Artboards within a file is another must.

Am I missing what the issue is here? I do this all the time, have for years. Copy, switch file, paste in front (make sure active artboard number is the same on both files)... I just copied and pasted 12 web ads from one file to another, they are all different sizes. As long as the the new file I am switching to has the same artboards, same size, arranged the same, there is no issue (which is easy to maintain, just use arrange artboards with same row config and space inbetween)

Copy/pasting or ability to path/link between art-boards into other AI files would be incredibly beneficial :)

PLEASE make this possible! Imagine one doc, 20 artboards of different sizes, and I need to copy 10 of the artboards+content (each with their unique sizes) over to a fresh doc.

This would be a fantastic functionality that would increase productivity, and love, of Adobe's Illustrator. Currently having to manually copy and paste all layout aspects has created additional production costs for client and production team.
Would love to "select" an artboard to paste to another open file; much like dragging content to another tab in ID. -

YES! we need this. for example.a few of my cleints include nightclubs with a huge list of digital collateral per event. up to 25+ events per venue across multiple.something small like an additional banner size to be added across the sets must be done one by one. you must open the doc, add the artboard etc.. which includes has typing the dimensions every time, then pasting the art etc... would be great to just be able to paste the entire artboard and contents as others have suggested onto a seperate doc.Im no program developer , but it would be a huge help to have this & seems like it should be an easy addition to the program, copy the artboard and contents, then paste.. BADDAA BING BADDAA BOOOM..... Thank you.
