I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.3.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the feedback. Want to give an update that we have removed the dialog, and the new experience is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now, in case you want to give it a try. Now, there will be no blocking message, we will show a “soft message” which will auto-dismiss .

Illustrator TeamAn error occurred while saving the comment Jeff D commentedSo funny that it doesn't automatically dismiss, even after the file has saved.
You have to click "OK." Adobe is a joke!

An error occurred while saving the comment Jeff D commentedIt's insane that swatch libraries aren't saved to your workspace.
I dragged the library to my workspace. That means I want it there!

Jeff D supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Jeff D commentedFWIW, this seems tied to the Undo action.
An error occurred while saving the comment Jeff D commentedThis bug, like so many others in AI, has persisted for years without a fix.
I don't think Adobe cares one bit.

An error occurred while saving the comment Jeff D commentedPlease allow me to use all keys to set keyboard shortcuts. For example, I can't use the command key nor the arrow keys. It's a ridiculous limitation.
All other art applications let me do this. Now I have to set and memorize a new set of shortcuts just for Illustrator. What a waste of brain power.

5 votesThe solution to that would be to activate a stroke if you want to apply a color to it, then to hold Shift when clicking a color — does not matter where this color is on a stroke or a fill. Illustrator then applies the picked color to the active fill/stroke, ignoring the source nature. There are two things to know — the cursor does not inform you about this mode (unlike the Alt-mode, should be addressed), and if you pick a color from a swatch — you’d get a screen representation of the color... harmless for RGB documents (if your color settings are in order), but crucial for CMYK documents (should be addressed too). Pleas comment back.Jeff D supported this idea ·

You can do this by executing Edit > Edit Colors > Convert to Grayscale

Recolor now can be used for Freeform gradients correctly, allowing access to all colors used in it.
