Network drives support
I can't believe what I read on this Adobe support page (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/illustrator-support-networks-removable-media.html) about using Illustrator files only on your LOCAL drive.
How is it possible Adobe drove it's software into this nightmare?
If we really can't acces and save our files on a local network drive then I am really done with it...

Almost 4 years later and this is still Adobe's official stance:

How disappointing.

Illustrator is so unreliable while working with network files, Lots of crashes and freezes.
Other apps work perfectly somehow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -

What I see here is people relying on shared networks and drives, and each has a different configuration, different network protocol. Some enterprise server might even rewrite their own IP addresses at startup OR during work, some automatic maintenance on files might corrupt your work, hence the need for a better network support.

I am having trouble all of a sudden exporting my illustrator file into photoshop format. I am forced to save files on my external hard drive while working since my company's server doesn't work well with my MAC, and my local hard drive on my MAC doesn't have enough space to support all the files i work on day and and day out (there is a LOT). I wasn't having issues with this export process until this morning all of a sudden. I do it all the time as i create email creative for my digital team in illustrator but they need it in photoshop format in order to program the emails to go live. So of course every email i design needs to be exported to PSD. The agent i chatted with has a temp work around to export to my local desktop, but unfortunately that's not going to be a long term solution for me and the problem needs to be addressed and get back to working the way it was. Please fix this problem ASAP!!!!

Having the same problem, my team and I rely on having updated large files. Constantly using the workaround is a huge bottleneck.

Whenever I save to my server Illustrator (CC2018) crashes. I have to save locally then I can save to my server without AI crashing. Adobe recommends this two step save as a workaround which is 100% NOT ACCEPTABLE.
