One tab-over between Width and Height in New Document window
In New Document window, I am used to typing a numeric dimension for Width, then pressing tab once to enter a dimension for Height. In the current version, if you press tab after entering Width, it goes to the unit of measurement first instead of to the Height. It feels unintuitive.

Fully Agree. It should match Photoshop, which is the logical sequence of inputs. W and H are a set/pair. Units should come after. I would love to be able to type: 12, tab, 12, tab, down arrow, enter; and that would give be a 12" square. I would like ai to keep the w/h number then set the unit without doing conversion.
BTW: Why are points and picas at the top of the list? Does anyone use those? I think cm mm inch and pixels should be at top.

Does the highlighting still not work for you?
Seems to be fixed for me in the latest release (but not the Tab order yet). -

Illustrator 25.2.3 64bit
Windows 10Newest version of illustrator, on the New Document window, you can no long select and highlight any of the form fields with a mouse click and drag.
Also for a long time i have been frustrated with the tabbing order of width > Units > height. when it really needs to be width > height > units
People rarely change their units, and it's just an annoying extra tab when you have to do this 100 times a day.
Thank you

Would it not be a good idea to change the hierarchy of the presets when setting a new document? Currently, when you input Width and then tab to the next preset, it takes you to measurement units, then to Height. Surely it would be better to either have the measurements units choice before both the canvas dimensions, or after? That way you can input Width then tab straight to Height without looking at what you're doing. It causes problems if you forget that the current sequence is Width>Units>Height when you're inputting your details and only find out after you've input everything incorrectly and have to do it all over again. It seems like a simple fix for a far more efficient workflow.

Yes yes yes yes yes this. It is very unintuitive to not be able to type a width, then tab directly to the height field.

When creating a new document in both Illustrator and Photoshop the Preset Details tab order is frustrating. It would make more sense to enter a width in the field then hit tab to go to height field. Currently it tabs from width to units to height.
I often enter a width hit tab and enter what I think is a height only to find it's sitting on the units dropdown.
InDesign has this tab order correct and is much more sensible.
