Allow formatting of bullets & numbers in lists
Bullets and numbers currently inherit the formatting of the first character in the list item. This is not very flexbile and creates issues when in one list there are bold items and regular items.
There should be an option to add formating to the bullet as well as the numbers. Also: there should be an option to use any kind of character of a dingbats font as a bullet. Bonus would be if any kind of shape could be used.

I do bullet lists in Illustrator all the time - a more robust bullet list feature would be amazing.

The new bullet feature is eh, okay, pretty basic. When could we expect to see color or glyphs as bullet options? Until then, I've resorted to doing bullets the old-fashioned way, which is more efficient.

In addition to the color feature for bullet lists, what about being able to choose a glyph as a bullet?

Feature request for a paragraph style to change the bullet color for bullet lists. Something like a swatch color picker would be helpful.

Will it be possible to use Symbols as bullets? We need the ability to customize bullet characters in the bullets & numbering feature.

I need a way to include bullets as I want, either shape and color.

Hey, thanks for sharing the workaround! Quite handy if one needs to use lists.
As far as I know, the team is aware of the demand... but no details other than that are known. -

A coworker of mine found a workaround. It's not "automatic", but it seems to be easier than inserting bullets manually:
- To keep a bullet point from changing to the color of the first character in the bullet point
- Type your text
- Choose the “Bulleted list” style
-Click before the first word in the bullet point and use “Shift + Ctrl + - “ . This inserts a “discretionary hyphen” between the bullet and the first letter of the line. This symbol takes up no space. -

Hello, Adobe!
Has there been any movement on this?
I'm sure we all would appreciate an update on whether or not you are looking into this.
Thank you!! -

It is so frustrating that so simple future is incomplete: there must be an option to add either unicode character, or custom shape (symbol). Both of any color. This is a required minimum.

Agree with Monika and everyone, we need to be able to format bullets separately and use other art for bullets, this feature is incomplete.

I'm still making custom bullets the old way this new feature does not do what I need and is more time consuming than adding characters and adjusting Paragraphs.

I am currently collaborating with many designers who either don't know how to use InDesign or prefer to use Illustrator, even though my projects involve long pages. In an effort to find common ground, I have started working in Illustrator, even for long-page projects. However, the issue of bullet and numbering is proving to be quite challenging for me. Not being able to change colors or add our own designed bullets is truly frustrating. While adding Illustrator features to InDesign may not be necessary, I believe that Illustrator's bullet and numbering, character, and paragraph features need to be improved urgently.

Can we expand the options for bullets to control the color and size of the bullet? Currently, you cannot control these, and it is not compatible with many brand style guides creators must follow.
Sure, you can add a space and change the color of the empty space to control the bullet color, but then you have to add a space to every item in the list which is tedious.
In the attached screen grab, (template instructions from one of my files), you see an example of this. Our project managers want smaller bullets and the color to be the same regardless of what color the text may be.
And I create graphics for proposals/RFP responses; InDesign is not appropriate for wheat I'm doing.
Thank you! -

I was manually making circles and placing them as bullets...
Was excited to see a bullets option. See that the bullets are teeny tiny and not customizable. Well, was a nice thought.
Back to copy paste and placing circles. -

Pls allow for bulleted and numbered lists to include fully customizable coloring, size, font, and shape of the bullets/numbers.
Given the inflexibility of this feature at present, I have to make the bullets invisible and then add perfectly aligned reformatted objects over them in order to visually format their appearance as bullets, which opens up the door for the kinds of layout errors I'm trying to avoid by using automatically formatted bulleted/numbered lists to begin with.
This becomes especially problematic/impractical in the event of including multiple bulleted lists in a given doc...

Glad to see the bullets feature but it needs to be able to be customized!

At the moment everytime I want to use this it is less than helpful as I can't colour it and have limited options for the actual bullet.
It's a step in the right direction but just not actually as good as it could be.
