Restoring the CAD tree-view when importing DXF files.
Before version 25.1, when importing DXF files created with a CAD software (Solid Edge), each part of an assembly was recognized by Illustrator (1 part = 1 layer).
This is not the case anymore since version 25.1. The last version in which it works is version 25.0.13 votes -
Variable Data, or Variable Text Improvement
Recently, my business has been doing a lot of acrylic construction tags for Electricians, and HVAC companies, and Illustrator is generally our "go to" software suite when developing files for our clients, but with the recent work that has been coming in to our company, we have begun to explore the variable data features in Illustrator, and have found this feature to be less than ideal, and is currently not a viable alternative to the way we have been doing things thusfar.
Currently, it seems the variables that one would set up in a given design file are referenced, or…

Export for screens: poor JPG compression and custom JPG settings
The compression and quality when "exporting for screens" in JPG is really bad compared to "Export for web".
- You cannot customize the quality of the JPG
- It embeds the color profile in the file, even if you have selected not to do so.

Save Color Profiles by Default
By default, the color profiles I assign to the file should be saved.
There have been several times I have assigned a color profile to my Illustrator file, saved it as a PDF, and the printed PDF were the wrong colors because Illustrator didn't include the assigned profile. I then had to reopen my file, manually tell Illustrator to include all color profiles when saving, and then reprint.
It is ridiculous that the file doesn't save assigned profiles by default.

Please add automated color bar, separation color information - Print PDF output
Hi! I am missing a choice in PDF save or export. In the print industry is needed to add colour information for the customer, what colours is the artwork made from - esp. when we use solid colours. Customers need this for the approval process so we have to add this colour-bar manually. In the PDF (composite PDF) window there are Marks and Bleed choices, but there is missing a choice to choose a colour information automatically generated from the document colours - separations. The colour information can be graphical (squares with separation names) or text based (separation name in…

Allow layers with "print" unchecked to also not render in "output for screens".
Basically, just like the title says. When the "Print" box in a layer's properties is unchecked, that layer will not be printed (or, when exporting, it won't be used in the export).
I'd like this behavior to be continued in export for screens. That way, you can set up layers for overlays and guides but not have to manually hide them before export.
F/E, here's an overlay on a FB mobile sized coverpage; I'd like the blue box etc (on their own non-print layer called "overlays") to be gone on export so that when I export, all that the resulting…

Asset Export: Name assets after the layer they're on
When adding objects to Asset Export, there should be an option to name the assets after the layer they're on. This would be particularly helpful when there are a large number of assets.

Fix Lines in Pattern designs when saved via Export for Screens.
When I export designs (via Export for screens) with patterns that have either been expanded or not I find that I get verticle and horizontal lines in my pattern. This is not present in the app, only on the resulting PDF/JPG/PNG exported file. I found this doesn't not happen when using the legacy Save for Web option. This is not an AA issue. Both are set to art optimized and the results are very different.

Where has Export > DXF Gone?
Export as DXF has been removed since the latest update.
This option is essential at our workplace. Is there a reason why it was removed?
3 votesBoth DXF and DWG export options are there now in the 'Save as type' dropdown list in the Export As dialog, in recent versions of Illustrator.
Please comment if these are missing for you.

Streamline the Fresco To Illustrator Export Process
Like many I use Illustrator for its Vector properties in order to animate within After Effects, with the agility to scale up assets infinitely when clients change their minds about shots & movements.
iPads Adobe Draw, meant my assets could become so much more detailed. Which was great! While the push to desktop feature was glitchy for me at best it still mostly resulted with having a neat AI file version of the Draw one. That I could Import into AE with ease. Update with ease. etc.
It's also useful that I can bring in AI assets to PS as…

Export for Screens: Option to include file- and artboard-name automatically.
Ok the "Export for Screen" option is kind of nice, however it takes far too long to set everything up....
- The areas to type in are far too small.
- Automation is week a. where can define that all images will get the file name of the original *.AI file. b. why does it keep the old folder location? Set an option to export is where the original *.AI-file is located. c. Where are some presets? Wouldn't it be awesome to have some user-defined presets? It would be.
- The images are to small
- There are to many clicks, like when I…

Relink all images, using the 2nd page of the pdf to be replaced.
Hello everyone! I'm having a problem that takes me a lot of time. I need to make relinks of several (many) images. Usually these images are .pdf and have 2 pages. Is it possible to be able to relink all images simultaneously, using the second page of the .pdf?

Save as multiple files in AI format
Only me who wants to save multiple files, in AI-format, from one document full of many pages? As it is today one can only check "Use pages" and choose page numbers if format EPS, PDF and SVG is picked. I find AI better to import into After Effects than EPS. That's why I want to save multiple files in AI format. Haven't tried SVG though... does SVG work in After Effects?

Export screenshot of artboard to clipboard
A common part of my workflow is to take a screenshot of my work, which saves the screenshot to the clipboard, and then I paste it in an email or chat window for others to comment on. It's faster than exporting the document. However, it still takes a second to click and drag the screenshot area.
I would like a feature (with a keyboard shortcut) to make a low-res PNG of the artboard (about as big as the view on my screen, i.e a screenshot) and save it to the clipboard for easy sharing.
