  1. Files saved to an older version (CS6, or lower) using 30.2.1 build give errors when opening in older versions

After the last update, saving an .ai file in version CS5 or lower and then trying to open it in Illustrator CS5 results in an error: invalid operator: "<fffe>"

  2. Give the choice to change the export resolution with or without changing the number of pixels.

When exporting as an image llustrator will always change the pixel amount when you set a resolution higher or lower than 72 ppi. Photoshop has an option that is missing in Illustrator, the option to check/uncheck “Resample” when changing the resolution. When Unchecked only the ppi metatadata is changed and the pixel amount stays the same. When checked Photoshop behaves like Illustrator does and changes the amount of pixels when the resolution is changed. It would be a welcome addition to have this choice in Illustrator.

  3. Allow to choose if the Save dialog should "remember the last file format used / PDF is set as a default filetype when saving a new document

Ever since last update, if i save off a pdf and then create a brand new doc and go to save it, it goes to PDF automatically when it used to always default to .ai so i forget and get to the PDF options and then have to cancel and go back and retype my file name which is just annoying and remembering the last format is not helpful. Almost as annoying as PS trying to export in the last export location instead of the same folder as the .PSD --- NOT HELPFUL

    Hi everyone,

In the latest BETA 30.0.21, we’ve improved the ‘Save As’ workflow.

Now, instead of remembering the last used format, the default will always be .AI.

We made this change to ensure that your files are consistently saved in the native Illustrator format, which is the most reliable option for preserving full editability.

Please try out he changes by downloading the latest BETA from the Creative Cloud and let us know if it helps you or not.

  4. Save to cloud dialog: files in folder not visible

The new update(s) does not bring back the feature to view files in the folders and in grid view when saving to cloud. This has been causing a lot of problems and inconvenience. Reported few times and have been told that these will be brought back in the next update, but it never did. Frustrating and annoyed.

  5. Add TIFF format into Export for Screens / Assets dialog

We need a way to export assets (and artboards) as TIFFs using modern Export for Screens / Assets dialog.

  6. Exact ARC export in DXF

Illustrator internally represents curves as Bézier paths, while CAD/CNC workflows rely on true ARC entities (constant-radius circular arcs).
At the moment, there is no reliable way to export Illustrator geometry containing circular arcs to DXF while preserving them as exact ARC entities. All curves are approximated as splines or segmented polylines, even when the geometry is mathematically circular.
This creates a serious issue for CNC workflows, where exact radii and true arcs are required for correct toolpaths, tolerances, and part fitting.

A highly valuable feature would be:
    • Detection of constant-radius Bézier curves
    • Optional conversion of those curves to…

  7. An option to choose if the Artboard background color should be exported, for each format, including PNG

When exporting an artboard to PNG, I hope there is an option to follow the background color of the artboard itself. I thought the purpose of the new update is to be able to use that same background color when exporting. I still need to add a shape with the background color that I prefer before exporting.

  8. Allow Users to Change the Default Save Location Behavior

In other production software, there is a preferences setting that allows users to change whether the program will open the file explorer relative to the current file's save location or to remember where it was last opened to.
This feature is sorely missing from Illustrator and causes me loads of headaches when exporting assets for multiple clients in rapid succession.
To make things worse, if you use the Asset Export window (Export for Screens), the "Export to:" filepath will prepopulate to the last location that that particular file saved to. If you click the folder icon to the right of…

  9. Allow to disable "Use Compression" option by default

The new change making 'Use Compression' a default setting under the Illustrator Options when saving new files has negatively impacted our team's productivity. We require full autonomy over our file settings and find the imposition of new defaults to be unnecessary. We strongly suggest reverting this to an opt-in feature so that professional users can maintain their established saving protocols without manual interference because compression sucks. Thank you!

  10. DATA MERGE . File Names from CSV

REPEATEDLY NOTICED NOT YET AVAILABLE FEATURE
It would be tremendously helpful, if we could name exported files via the CSV-file used for data merge, so we can have actual full names, instead „Data Set 1“, … „Data Set 217“.

    ISSUE
Data Merge exports are being exported without customized file names, which is a major time issue, when dealing with large scale data merge exports.

    SUGGESTED SOLUTION
Giving users in the VARIABLES -> VARIABLE OPTIONS menu the option to assign „FILE NAME“ to a variable via TYPE, and make this accessible to the ACTIONS when exporting via BATCH.

    WHY
    More effective…

  11. Improve Trim Mark Settings When Exporting PDFs

    Posted using Illustrator 2025 (29.4)

In the Japanese printing industry, it is common practice to require both corner crop marks and center crop marks when exporting PDFs.

Currently, in Illustrator’s PDF export settings, enabling the “Trim Marks” option only adds corner marks. To include center crop marks, users must also check the “Registration Marks” option, which results in registration marks being added as well.

However, these registration marks are generally disliked and considered unnecessary in Japanese print workflows. There needs to be an option to add only corner and center crop marks without registration marks.

    InDesign allows users to…

  12. PDF stroke and fill shape should be imported as a single object, not two separate objects

PDF stroke and fill shape should be imported as a single object. Currently Illustrator parses such shapes as two objects: fill, stroke. This behaviour can be seen when exporting as PDF in Illustrator (without AI editing capabilities) and importing it again.

Note: This seems to be caused by incorrect handling of B and B* PDF operators (fill + stroke in one object).

  13. Estimate file size before PNG and other formats export

I would love to save an estimate of file size before exporting PNGs, that way I could adjust the resolution to suit my needs. I would be really useful for exporting files for web for example.

  15. Show a progress bar for 'export for screens' when it's taking a little while

Maybe it's just me making absolutely pathological files (7k paths that expand to 72k paths and 6k images) but sometimes 'export for screens' can take a while. And I just wanna close the file and get on with my life but I can't until it's done, and I'd like to know how long it's gonna take.

Maybe pop up a progress bar at the top of the screen along with the "this is saving in the background and will close when it's done" grey box? Or maybe just, well, pop up a traditional window with a progress bar that's not

  16. Allow to see what file has changes when opened/imported, and allow to bulk the choice

When I try to open several .ai documents at once (many at once), Ai warns me about the changes someone made to some of these.
...but it doesn’t show me clearly what document this warning refers to (no, look at the 'the current tab' is not clear enough) and won’t allow me to apply this choice to all the document I open, forcing me to click like dozens of times. This is murky and exhausting.

  17. On Export to PDF, for "Page information" - Include the Artboard Name, not just the page number. Also let us edit the label placement. Basic

On Export to PDF, for "Page information" - Include the Artboard Name, not just the page number. Also let us edit the label placement.

Basically, I want to be able to call my artboards something like "Pane A1" - "Panel A2" - etc...

Right now, if I have a multi panel project, I have to manually place panel labels in all corners of a layout. But where bleeds overlap, I can't place labels, because that label would appear in the print field of the other panel...

Also, the offset of the "page information" should be editable, or default to the…

  19. Allow export file name to be customized

Currently, if I try to export all artboards separately, the export function automatically adds "{ArtBoardName}". For example, if the filename is ABC, and the artboards are 01 and 02, then I get two files: ABC01 and ABC_02.
As far as I know, we cannot customize how the file name output format is. So if I want to have the filename to be using "ABC - 01" and "ABC - 02", then I would have export everything and then rename them.
I think it would be useful to have a way to customize how the name should be constructed.
