  1. Bring back the ability to make Picture Clipping Files!

In illustrator you used to be able to drag any art in illustrator to your desktop and it would create a .pictclipping file.

The file would then be a ready to use symbol or pice of art preserve spot colors, Layers, Grouping, Overprint, Any Attributes! It's simple and easy to use and so easy to share with my coworkers! More importantly, because of how simply it operates, better than the current library/symbols functions. I don't understand why they would phase it out.

It's just not as easy to share standardized art through adobe's available functions. We get some new graphic…

  2. Add Option to Save Both Editable and Outlined Text PDFs Simultaneously

As a graphic designer, I often need to provide clients with both editable and outlined text versions of my work. Currently, this requires manually saving two separate files: one with editable text and another with text converted to outlines.

I propose adding a feature in Adobe Illustrator's "Save As PDF" dialog that allows users to check an option like:

"Would you like to save two versions of this file? (Editable text and Outlined text)"

Upon selection, Illustrator would automatically generate:

    filename_editable.pdf

    filename_outlined.pdf

This enhancement would streamline the workflow, reduce the risk of errors, and save valuable time for designers.

    Thank…

  3. Please please please repair the Template system

Saving my own Template is still a pain, since the folder where those are stored needs extra privileges, which can't be given from within the Save Template dialog.
Please, rework this Template save / load system, and make it fail proof and rock solid.

This is how it should work in 2025:
    -Save Template.
    -Give Name
    -Done

  4. Export Ai documents as HTML

I'm not a programmer (at all) — it would be AMAZING to be able to export a document as an HTML with attached code that we could upload into something like WordPress for websites. It would make my

  5. Add an option to open the folder with exported images that stays for some time on scree

I think it would be great if we could see a "View on Computer" or "Go to Folder" option on the screen, floating in the middle of nearly 5-7 seconds. So if we have to use it immediately we can go there with no effort... I'm writing it for Asset Export but I think this feature should be it for any save and export option on every Adobe software.

  6. Please revert to data recovery files being saved as .ai files instead of .aishm files that can't be opened.

Have the data recovery files save as .ai files that you can actually open and work on, rather than .aishm files that are unopenable.

What's the use of data recovery files that you can't open?

  7. Issue with Hidden Layers Exporting in PNG Format

Hello. I am experiencing an issue with Illustrator when exporting my files to PNG format using artboards. Specifically, the exported PNG includes layers that are hidden and not displayed on the screen at the time of export. This issue does not occur when I export all the artwork or only selected artworks.

    Here are the details:

    Software Version: 29.3.1
    Operating System: Windows 11 24H2
    Steps to Reproduce:
    Open the Illustrator file.
    Hide certain layers.
Export the file to PNG format using artboard and have transparent background.
    Check the exported PNG file.
Despite hiding the layers before exporting, they still appear…

  8. Bring in PDF's without changing the formatting

PDF's, sometimes, when brought in, NOT as an image, but embedded, changes font style widths, etc. This was another issue for me, with a client who built their file in ID and saved as a PDF and I brought it in and embedded it. I did not catch it, but it's clearly changed. I have the font, so that was not an issue, it just change the "BOLD" to "REGULAR". Picture attached shows the "original" PDF as a pic on the right. I have it at 50% opacity as I was comparing.

  9. Remember if Artboard or Asset Tab Last Used in Asset Export dialog

Please remember the last tab in the Asset Export window I was on. It defaults to Assets when I usually use Artboards due to the naming convention I build across artboards. GUI for it is still a bit rough and could use some enhancements. Thx

  10. Please allow currentColor for SVG export

Using SVG in web development frequently requires manual editing of the svg code, to use currentColor instead of a fixed fill or stroke colour.

  11. Improve Trim Mark Settings When Exporting PDFs

    Posted using Illustrator 2025 (29.4)

In the Japanese printing industry, it is common practice to require both corner crop marks and center crop marks when exporting PDFs.

Currently, in Illustrator’s PDF export settings, enabling the “Trim Marks” option only adds corner marks. To include center crop marks, users must also check the “Registration Marks” option, which results in registration marks being added as well.

However, these registration marks are generally disliked and considered unnecessary in Japanese print workflows. There needs to be an option to add only corner and center crop marks without registration marks.

    InDesign allows users to…

  13. Local saves with Version control

We need an option to create a project file that cannot be saved over. The reason for this is that when working with a client who has many options, we sometimes need to step back in time or recover older versions from unexpected changes.

Similar to an Illustrator template file (.ait), we could have a format like .aiv or .aivi. This way, when I save flyer.aiv, every save will generate a backup file flyer-250204817.ai next to the current file.

It would also be useful to have an option in a settings pane to save a backup every other save and…

  14. Allow to disable 'Create PDF Compatible File' option when saving AIT templates

Compatibility with PDF takes a ton of disk space, and .ait templates don’t really need it, because these are no intended to be imported or placed — just launched. Perhaps you should disable it by default?

As I understand, these are actually just .ai files, but the different extension causes Ai to process them differently...

I don’t expect a full-blown dialog when saving, but why not?
Take a look at this related request:

  15. Add ability to use artboard names when exporting.

When you export PDF it would be nice to save artboards to individual files with the artboard name. Naming artboards doesn't really do much right now.

  16. Export selected artboards using "Exports for Screens" with editing capabilities preserved

Can you provide a checkbox in Adobe Illustrator that allows exporting the selected artboard from a file with multiple artboards, while preserving editing capabilities? This would ensure that fonts and images are not missing, and that the file size remains small due to only the selected artboard being included.

I work for a Hindi newspaper, and the fonts I use in the file are not available everywhere. As a result, the fonts get missing on certain systems if the file is exported as a PDF without 'Preserve Editing Capabilities' enabled, which affects the quality of the product. Additionally, if the…

  17. Allow Illustrator to remain in native file mode after saving to PDF

Currently, saving a PDF from Illustrator keeps the saved PDF open in Illustrator. If you edit the file that is still open, you're editing the PDF and not the native Illustrator file. It is difficult to see that you're working in PDF other than just remembering that Illustrator does this (when other Adobe apps do not), and/or to look at the extension on the file tab.

Feature request is to change this function so that Illustrator remains open in the same Illustrator file format instead of switching to working in the saved PDF via Illustrator. This would be similar to…

  18. When Altering and Saving an Existing File on Your Computer, the Item's Time Stamp Should Update

Standard functionality is to update the folder details time stamp for any changes made, so it is easy to find the most recent files, etc.

Today, the file only lists its original creation date and does not update its time stamp when changes are saved.

  20. Add export functionality directly in the Artboard Panel

Add export functionality directly in the Artboard Panel through either:

    A right-click context menu option
Small export icons next to each artboard
A dedicated export button within the panel"

The key benefits to highlight would be:

    Reduced clicks/steps in the workflow
More intuitive location since users are already working with artboards
