Display larger previews in Windows Explorer preview pane
In Windows Explorer preview pane, a bigger size of Illustrator files preview would be great.

Add menu highlighting the same as the new InDesign feature
I find the new menu highlight option very useful in InDesign. It would be helpful in all Adobe products.
Please add menu highlighting the same as the new InDesign feature.
In the attached I have highlighted PDF and Print Presets.

File preview in home screen limited to artboard
In the home screen previews of the most recent files are available, but the preview includes all objects in the document, regardless of the artboard(s), so that the preview does not necessarily reflect the artwork very well.
(I routinely include loads of stuff outside the edge of the artboard, copies of elements I’m working on, template objects, etc. Which are part of my work process, but are just noise when it shows up on my preview.)
I therefore suggest that the preview only includes objects (or parts of objects) within the artboard(s).

UI Font scaling like Photoshop has now
Can we get illustrator to have the same type of UI scaling capabilities that Photoshop 2019 has now? I saw that illustrator added the ability to have small, medium and large interface but can we also have text scaling separately as well like small, medium, large so we can change that independently? Right now I have illustrator open and the icon size is ok but the text is too small now. So if you wanted to have the interface as small but the text as medium, that's what I'm talking about.

Units Menu added to the Artboard Menu
Why can't the Units menu be added to the Artboard menu? This would be such a time saver not to have to go into 2 different menu's just to change a document's Artboard from points to inches! Can you add this to the next update please!?

Workspace remembers settings in floating windows
Having the ability to set parameters in floating windows would speed things up enormously. Setting a workspace for Arabic text, another for Western text – and being able to freely switch between them. Setting a workspace for a particular client, with their typefaces and brand colours already set in the palettes. Instead, every job requires a minute or so setting up the workspace before work can commence. CRM:02211000001504

Multiple Fills/Strokes in Properties Panel
It would be helpful if the "Appearance" part of the Properties panel would allow the addition of multiple fills and strokes like you can in the standalone Appearance panel. I would like to use the Properties panel more but cannot for this reason.

Ability to search functions
For example, in rhino I can type all the functions without having to search through the menus with my mouse
2 votesIn latest version of Illustrator you can access Discover panel by hitting F1 or via Help menu.
This new window allows you to search within tools, commands, tutorials, etc. — but no commands form other panels’ menus, or scripts, or actions.

let me interact with the artboard while having appearance-effect dialogues open
As soon as a dialogue from the effects panel is open (e.g. 3D extrude & bevel or drop shadow, etc. ...) I cannot interact with my artwork anymore as the dialogue box hogs the focus. This is really annoying as you often want to adjust the size or position of your object when editing the effects to better see if everything meshes well together

Show Layer/Object name in Properties Panel
Could the name of the currently selected object or layer be displayed (and even editable) in the Properties panel, at the very top where it tells you what is currently selected? That would save so much time.
Other than that, really like the new Properties panel!

Search tool just like Photoshop’s Ctrl/Cmd + F
This is one of the first things I missed when I went from using a Mac to a Windows PC. Luckily Photoshop integrated this in the Windows version, a simple Search option to search your entire interface and more. A lot of people know tools but don't know where to find them, it's simply too much. With that search bar your efficiency will skyrocket, no more going to internet to look up a tool trough a lot of web pages.

Ability to select & rearrange invisible (switched off) layers and objetcs
It is incredibly annoying when I'm trying to group, move or rearrange objects or layers, only to be told by Illustrator that I need to turn visibility on before I can do any of this. Why?
In Photoshop I can move layers which are switched off with no complaints. It is a ludicrous process in AI to have to turn on a layer's visibility, move it, then turn it off again. And VERY annoying.

I'm well aware that there is a new update. I do not have time to deal with the nonsense Adobe is known for in their constant "updates". Quit nagging me about it with the ridiculous pop-up.

could you get back old (prior to CC) look of buttons (non-rounded), and old small arrows? these new ones look pretty ugly.

Handedness is often overlooked. Also, it is scientifically less-understood.
DEAR ADOBE: You are uniquely positioned to study handedness in a way that has potentially never been more insightful. Please invest in tech-development, research, and design to make your tools unique, more efficient, and more useful for left-handed, right handed, ambidextrous, or custom users (either hand preferences, foot pedals, or other). This includes interface, hotkeys, and mental models, interactivity, etc. Potentially, a "righty" could learn from "lefty"mode. And vice-versa. "Everyone/standard" mode is critical. However, why not introduce development towards understanding and helping HUMANITY understand handedness. Also, Some users may not have…
