Easier way to unlock layers
I, like most people, work with layers. Sometimes those layers are 5, sometimes closer to 100. Thing is, I don't want to have to scroll through 100 layers to find the 1 locked layer I want to unlock. It would be great if I could just right-click on it, then go through a 2-step process to unlock the layer. At the very least, if I double-click on said locked layer, I wish to be shown immediately in the Layers panel where that layer is.

Janne, objects in Ai are layers (and there are debates on the terminology), but I presume now you mean 'top layers': Layer 1, 2...?
And you want to unlock a top layer by picking a dedicated command from a right-click menu when you are clicking on a child object within this layer, correct?
Please show a screenshot of you Layers panel, and give some annotations if I got this wrong again. -

I came here via Google, as I desperately need such a function as I work with many layers. The response Egor gave is for locked OBJECTS, not locked LAYERS.

Or with some keyboard combination like CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT Click? (And it will unlock that layer.)

I agree, 100 layers is too much to scroll through to find what you want to change. There should be a way to simplify the whole layers process. User preferences for layers would be awesome.
