Please share your thoughts on the following:
1. Would it make sense to have a separate desktop app, just to create charts, and bring them inside Illustrator or InDesign? It may not be on cloud.
2. Or would you rather have us work on building it within Illustrator?
Thanks

Here we go, the first Beta version with the Dimension tool. Still very basic, but more features are to come. Please try the Beta 27.7 (available in the Beta section in your Creative Cloud Desktop application), test the tool and give the team your feedback here in comments. and refer to roadmap to see what will be added later.

There are now several separate requests made, based on the feedback in this thread:
1. Regarding adjustable color and opacity for 3D shadows:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47054086
2. Regarding presets for each tab in 3D and Materials panels: Object, Materials, Lighting:

All those who commented on the topic until October 16, 2023, are already added as voters there. If this is something you want to have for 3D and Materials in Illustrator — please upvote it. If possible — create new requests and bug reports about 3D, rather than commenting here inside. This will help the team to better prioritize efforts on making the feature better. As always — thanks for the feedback! It helps.

Please reintroduce the ability to apply separate colour/material to the extrusion part of a shape. There are multiple examples where such a feature would immensely help recreating real world objects. For example: laser cut plywood (burned edges), any cut object with painted surface etc. etc. etc.
I've been working with charts for quite some time and honestly I think built-in AI charts will never satisfy everyone, so I'd vote to remove it completely and ease the weight of the already huge app.
Instead, I'd add the ability to easily import *editable* charts from outside. Personally, I'd love to be able to import Observable/Plot/d3.js stuff but a separate app, with proper data handling (like *live* data from an API), custom typography etc. would be great too.
