Changing the appearance of drop shadows has so many steps in illustrator, considering it is a very common effect to use with text. Why can't I use the eyedropper tool to easily change the color of the drop shadow? Or why can't I have access to my usual color picking options like in "fill"?

In the same menu as copy, cut, and paste, there could be an option to "paste and replace." This would allow you to select something, and then paste something else in exactly the same spot (could be adjusted but I assume just centered on all axis) to replace what was there before.
This would save me a lot of steps while I make many iterations of the same work.
