Ilustrator says it does not have enough Ram for Extrude and bevel when there is enough ram. Can you stop illustrator from doing this

Adobe should have been able to resolve these crashing issues already as they because they have been in business for a long time. Obsviously they cant resolve these issues but neither can other software comapanies which is bizarre. I think things are faster using analog methods.
