    Illustrator 25.2.1 (64-bit)
    OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)

Cannot select text using the Selection or Direct Selection tool because the bounding box for the text is displaced (see screenshot). The only way to select it is to find the text in the layer and select it that way (i.e. very impractical when there is a lot of text to sift through and its not organized alphabetically).

Copying and pasting the text does not correct the problem. The text has to be retyped in a new box.

However, after selecting (via the layer panel) and deleting the problematic text, it does not disappear from the screen (only after zooming in or out does it disappear, even though it has been deleted).

The problem may occur after performing a scaling operation. I seem to remember that I encountered a similar problem in much earlier versions of illustrator (from about 10-15 years ago). However, I'm not sure if the problem is related to a prior scaling operation or not.

The included screenshot shows the issue.

    Hi All,

We have fixed this issue in 24.0.3 version of Illustrator (MAC only issue). Please update to 24.0.3 if you are encountering this issue. For all the other issues which you are encountering regarding the update or the new document dialog or any other please create another User Voice thread for that issue so that we can track it there itself.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Illustrator Team

As of this week (May 17 2020) I've started encountering this problem with the PC version of Illustrator (version 24.1.2, 64-bit) running on Windows 10. Never encountered it before. Not only can I not overwrite an existing PDF (using the same file name) when the error occurs, but I can also not delete the existing file, until I re-boot my PC... Come on Adobe...

    Hi,

It seems like opacity is applied on the Layer and not on the object inside that layer. It is possible that the user is selecting object inside the layer and not the layer itself. Hence the user is able to see the opacity of object which is 100% in this case and not the changed opacity of layer.

Related (similar) problem. When I select objects in more than one layer, some of which are grouped, and some of which are not grouped, and then I attempt to change the opacity on all selected objects, the change does not apply to the grouped objects. To change the opacity of the grouped objects I have to individually select them (which defeats the point of having them grouped to begin with). Also, in this scenario, there is a mismatch between the opacity % shown and the actual opacity that is visible (for the grouped objects). Please fix this.
