Opacity bug
AI CC 2018
I turned the opacity down on a selection to see below layers. Then I went to work on below layers. Upon returning to original layer and re-selecting the object to return it to 100% opacity it showed I was already at 100%. I could not get it back to 100% until I copied and pasted the object to a new layer.
Hi,
It seems like opacity is applied on the Layer and not on the object inside that layer. It is possible that the user is selecting object inside the layer and not the layer itself. Hence the user is able to see the opacity of object which is 100% in this case and not the changed opacity of layer.

Related (similar) problem. When I select objects in more than one layer, some of which are grouped, and some of which are not grouped, and then I attempt to change the opacity on all selected objects, the change does not apply to the grouped objects. To change the opacity of the grouped objects I have to individually select them (which defeats the point of having them grouped to begin with). Also, in this scenario, there is a mismatch between the opacity % shown and the actual opacity that is visible (for the grouped objects). Please fix this.

I was having this problem too. I ended up going to the Transparency window and unchecking the Knockout Group box. It brought my selected paths back to true 100%.
Hope that helps you too!

I'm having the same issue and have many times before. In my case, I have a group of design elements that all share the same color but each has a different opacity value. When I selected the whole group to change the COLOR but not the OPACITY, it had weird results - the colors seemed to all be varied. When I selected each element to see what color it was - it said that it was the new color and 100% opacity. I tried to select elements with white arrow, black arrow, group/ungroup, copy/paste etc to see if I could resolve the issue. Nothing worked.
Flatten transparency eventually worked but then I had to go back in and change all the opacity values again (and now I don't know what they originally were - will have to refer back to an older file).

This bug occurs, I think, when you change the opacity of many different polygons individually (to opacity settings that are not all the same) and then use the eye dropper selection tool to try and make the colors and individual opacities uniform.

Hi,
It seems that you are selecting the wrong layer element while changing the opacity.
May be you are reducing the opacity of the object which is in the sub layer in the layers panel and then you are finding it to be 100% in the parent layer.
Make sure you are on the correct layer by selecting it in the layers panel.Regards,
