Please Adobe, this bug is well over a decade old now.
Having to manually resize the window all the time is just so annoying and the occasional error when the window is "too small" to open a file is infuriating.Mitch Pope supported this idea ·

The fix is pushed into the latest Prerelease build (v29.8) and is scheduled to get shipped into the next general build. Please try the pre release or Beta builds and let us know your observations.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the feedback. Want to give an update that we have removed the dialog, and the new experience is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now, in case you want to give it a try. Now, there will be no blocking message, we will show a “soft message” which will auto-dismiss .
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

It's a good idea but breaks some actions that end with save>close. The popup stops the action till you close it, breaking automation. It doen't always do it, but enough times it will carry on to the next action step before the save is complete. And when the next step is 'close', the popup happens. The popup should definietly close itself when the file is saved at least, and maybe not appear at all if some kind of automation is in progress, action or script

Still an issue! every iteration of my scripts end with the document.close() function, so there are no documents to close. It works with GPU acceleration off, but the scripts, and illustrator itself, run a lot slower on the CPU.
