  1. 'Tab' and 'Shift-Tab' to navigate when renaming Assets

    Issue:
While renaming assets in the Asset palette there's currently no way to move to the next or previous asset using the keyboard. When there are a large number of assets this makes for a tedious process.

    Goal:
Allow the renaming of multiple assets without having to use the mouse

    Suggested Solution:
Utilize 'Tab' / 'Shift-Tab' keys to navigate to the next / previous assets, e.g. how renaming layers works in Photoshop.

  2. Pin Contextual Task Bar position (like in Photoshop)

    Hi Adobe,

While I love the idea of the contextual toolbar, I'm sure I am joined by many in my opinion that it really gets in the way a lot of time, covering up parts of the design you'd like to see, making it hard to resize or move an object precisely and so on.

I'm extremely happy that I can just permanently pin the bar in the bottom of the screen (or wherever I want it) in Photoshop, but this option is entirely missing in Illustrator.

The bar will remain where it is for the duration of my work…

  3. Show global swatch triangle marker in Fill Stroke Control when a global swatch is selected

Global swatches are marked with a white triangle in the bottom right corner of the swatch. Book colors also have a black dot in this triangle.

These triangles are displayed everywhere swatches are used in UI: Appearance, Properties, Control... But for some reason they are omitted in tool panels, in Fill Stroke controls (and also Gradient).

I personally see no reason why. Sure users would benefit from knowing exactly if a color is global or not when they see the color chip anywhere.

  4. In Appearance calling alternative color UI is done with Shift and not obvious Alt

For some we have to hold Shift while clicking a fill/stroke square in Appearance panel to call the alternative pseudo-panel.
Alt = Alternative. Sure, Macs have Option instead, but it also fits.

Also, the hint has the 'Shift' and 'Color' written in lower-case: 'Hold shift key to bring up alternate color UI'... and I have no idea why 'alternate', why no alternation happens? Who wrote this hint?

  5. Drag tools from one toolbar to another

When I setup tool panels for various reasons), I can’t just drag it between tool panels.
The only way to do it now is to remove the tool first in the first toolbox and add it again in the second one. Each panel has its own Edit mode and tools get dragged only within an edited panel :(

  6. Guide Labels

I would love the ability to label my guides. In fact maybe a hole overhaul to the guide system. In After Effects and Premiere you can add Composition Markers, give them comments and adjust their perimeters. It would be great if you could do that for guides.

On the rulers will show a marker. Double clicking the marker will bring up the Guide Controls. or when you select 'New Guide' from the drop down menu, Guide Controls takes place of the window that currently gets displayed.

I would love this across all programs: Photoshop, After Effects, and the like, not…

  7. Make all keyboard shortcuts the same between all Adobe products

Why not make all keyboard shortcuts the same across all Abobe Software.

    Example:
In Illustrator there is no keybaord shortcut to convert text to caps, but in Indesign and Photoshop its Command.****,K

There are lots keyboard short cuts that are different it would be really amazing if they where all the same across all applications

  8. The home button should NOT be where "File" is on every other program ever.

Illustrator 23.0 has the home button where everyone goes to click File. This is muscle memory and I have clicked that worthless home button 6 times this morning alone. None of the other programs have made this change and it is very frustrating. Please allow the user to move or remove the Home Button.

  9. A hotkey to make the Transform tool only transform fill patterns.

When dragging with the selection or direct selection tools, or using the rotate, and scale tools to transform an object, you can hold down ~ to only transform its pattern fill. But the free transform tool doesn’t do this. Can we get it to do this?

(As with the rotate, scale, and selection tools, holding down the other modifier keys whole holding down ~ should act as they normally do with the Transform tool.)

There is a ‘transform pattern only’ option in the free transform panel’s menu, but that’s a lot of clicks far away from the thing you’re actively…

  11. Quick Apply in Illustrator (and all major Adobe apps)

There’s a neat and extremely useful feature in InDesign called Quick Apply (and I wonder why is it only there). It’s a quick and convenient way to find, select and perform any desired action whose name I know but am unable to find (within myriad of menus and submenus of panel options). Please add the same feature to all major apps.

  12. We should be able to right-click on any command and Add a Hotkey to it

Ai is stuck in 90-s with the UI’s paradigm.
    We need faster ways now.

Why can’t we right-click any command in the top bar menu and choose 'Add a keyboard shortcut' command that will immediately open the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog with this clicked menu item already chosen?

Why should be go to the dialog separately and search for the command once more?

It would be useful for this tool to allow the user to hide/show this Contextual Task Bar using a single keyboard shortcut.

  14. Move Blend Mode keyboard shortcuts from the Tools into the Menu Commands section

If you open Keyboard Shortcuts, make sure you have Tools selected, scroll all the way down, you’ll see all 'Blend Mode - [name of the mode]' commands there — empty, ready to be assigned... but. Opt/Alt cant’ be used for these. Because these are in tooools. Which means these can be bound only to naked keys and Shift+keys. Which are all taken, long time ago!

So please move Blend Mode keyboard shortcuts from the Tools section into the Menu Commands section, so we can use all possible modifiers for these, and not only Shift.

Also, why do we even have…

  15. Appearance and Gradient panels need a better way to signal 'No selection'

Very often, working on a complex appearance, we accidentally loose the object selection, and the stack we edit remains unassigned.

The panel then gets 'No selection' in the top row... but if the attributes stack is long, this line can get hidden if you scroll the panel down.
Then, if you select something else, all your changes get lost.

The workaround now is to be vigilant (ha) and save your appearance as a temp style before you select back the art you wanted to edit appearance for in the first place.
A better solution would be to make the 'No…

  16. Make Redefine Graphic Style option better accessible, and from the Graphic Styles panel too

If Ai had a hotkey for this command (like this request is asking for: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/41254435), perhaps this one would be less painful.

Yes, I know, you edit an appearance in the Appearance panel, and then force this changes to update the original style, using the panel’s flyout menu... but

    A. I often start looking the wrong panel, thinking 'I am updating a graphic style, so the relevant command should be in Graphic Styles' — and when I realize it’s a wrong assumption, it’s too late. For some reason this habit is hard to change!

    B. Why this command is…

  17. Absolute mode that always sets a fill a single click and stroke with the Alt+click/right click

Setting a color for fill and stroke depends on what is 'active' in the toolbox. This is a relative mode mode and it's unique for Adobe apps (and their imitators/imitators).

What about giving a direct way of setting fill/stroke, without remembering which is in focus now? somewhat like Corel Draw does?
Give us an option to be able to set a fill with a single click, and a stroke with the Alt+click (and additionally bringing it to focus), or right click.

  18. New Free Distort effect interface

We really need a global, accurate transform and distort window in the application. It needs more detail, the ability to recall the last applied action and interaction with bitmaps. This is a feature people have been asking for nearly 20 years - I've even designed it for you! Can you build it now?

  19. Highlight/Select values within box on panels on single click

I am unsure if this is OS specific or not, but it would be a welcome quality-of-life change. I use an Apple laptop and a Windows desktop.

Within Photoshop on Mac, if you click within the 'Character Size' box inside the Properties panel the entirety of the characters are highlighted to then be replaced. Unknown to me, this behavior is actually not consistent throughout every other Adobe program on Mac OS (as it should be).

It seems that on Windows, the behavior is set to only highlight on a double-click as well. This isn't the end of the world but…

  20. Switching between documents with shortcut CTRL + TAB on Macs

Switching between documents with shortcut CTRL + TAB like it is used in PS. When you, as I do, constantly work in both at the same time, it would be nice to have this functionality in both PS and AI.
