Text editing - missing keyboard shortcuts
Some text editing shortcuts would be very welcome:
Ctrl + End: go to the end of the text
Ctrl + Home: go to the beginning of the text
Ctrl + Delete: delete all characters of a word to right

Previous versions of illustrator showed the id of individual elements within layers in the layers window
Previous versions of Illustrator would show the id of individual elements within layers in the layers window. Now they just show as "path" or "compound path." I generate maps as svg files from a database with a program of my own design and then import them into Illustrator for final editing. Sometimes there is a problem with one or more elements. Before I could go to Illustrator, select the problem element, and see in the layers window what its id was. Then I could go to my database and fix the problem. I can't do this anymore. Cursor Key distance > 1296px
For some reason, the Cursor Key distance can't be bigger than 1296px. I would like it to be as big as the document maximum.
For some tasks, such as making big pattern tiles, it is very convenient to have a big distance under these keys.4 votes -

Please Remove Artboard Limit Entirely!
There appears to be a limit of 1000 artboards on a single canvas in Adobe Illustrator. This is VERY annoying. I frequently have Illustrator files with multiple very small artboards (for iconography). It's absurd that I have all this canvas space and cannot add as many artboards as I want/need.

It would be nice to have a remember password function. Why do I have to put in my password every time I open illustrator? Infuriating.

Shortcut for Delete Layer
I'd like a custom shortcut for deleting a layer. I could, of course, record an action and assign one of the F keys (F5, F6, etc), but I don't want to use the F keys.

Do not silently turn on "Turn off data recovery for complex documents"
I feel great sadness typing this. The whole auto save feature is intended to quietly SAVE stuff if Illustrator goes belly up. This is extra valid for complex documents. Why ON EARTH would Illustrator silently turn off this feature for the VERY DOCUMENTS it is designed for?
Please: notify a user if Illustrator, for any reason, decides to mess with the autosave feature. But mostly just don't turn it off if a user has it turned on. Just don't.

Too small to use?
When scaling down a complex drawing especially one created by image trace it often says cannot complete the operation because it would make some objects too small to use. So how can i scale my group? Can you just disappear those objects? If they are too small to use they must be too small to see so make them go away. Or it could automatically select them so you have the option to delete them. It seems silly that i can't make something the size i need because a part of it is too small to…1 vote -

Keyboard Increment per document type
Under Preferences > General it is possible to set the "keyboard increment" - how far each tap of an arrow key moves the selected art. The problem is, I want this to be different depending on what I'm doing.
It would suit me ideally if I could set the keyboard increment to 5mm when working on a print document (CMYK/300DPI) and 10px when working on a digital document (RGB/72DPI).

Bug report form for illustrator should accept SVG attachments
It's very difficult to share SVG bugs with you guys if your bug report form wont accept SVG. Couldn't even 7s it.
I know this is not an Illustrator bug, but I have an illustrator bug which I can't report because your bug reporter is configured poorly. So that's why I am reporting it under this category. Please pass it on to the appropriate people on your web team.

Make guides to be like in InDesign
Certain features of the guides are very disturbing. The fact that the guides are movable in the counter intuitive directions (horizontal guides can also be moved sidewise and vice versa) create situations when "objects" are being moved out of the canvas, which prevents curtain actions. Basically, the fact that guides behave like objects is a problem. Guides always get mistakenly grouped with objects, which leads to deleting objects when attempting to delete guides. Guides are being copied with objects when objects are chosen in hide guides mode - bad news. The feature of being able to align guides with objects…

a simple object position swap in the transormation panel
A simple object position swap tool.
I make data/scientific figures with AI. I do a lot of ordering and aligning of objects, often I have 4-5 scatter plots generated in R and I resize and align them in AI. I often want to reorder them after I have gotten the alignment perfect, so currently the most efficient process is clicking on each individual object and writing down the x,y coord. for each and then typing these in for each object. A simple button to swap objects based on their x,y coordinate (wherever the ref point is set) would save me…
